Why are cauldrons so expensive in SL?

Just finally got the cauldron recipe and realized it needs 2 shadestones. Fortunately I’d been making some already but holy gold-suck these cauldrons are like 15-20k a piece. lol.

They provide 30 flasks. A flask on my server is 750g on the AH right now. 23k-ish for 30.

Cauldron recipe is 2 shadestone and 8 flasks. 8 flasks is 8k and a shadestone on my server is like 3-4k gold. So 16k to make a cauldron with 30 flasks.

It’s definitely a lot cheaper than buying individual flasks for a raid group.

That being said, a 20 man raid group only costs 16k for flasks straight off the AH. Your mileage may vary depending on group size.

Because they thought it would be fun to make them require a reagent that can only be crafted after grinding an obscure world content side reputation that you can’t find groups for anymore.

You can get to friendly killing mobs in the halls of atonement world area.

Friendly to honored clearing halls of atonement dungeon. Roughly 8 runs.

Done. Only need honored for the shadestone.

All of that can be done solo

If it’s for your guild you should be have a group willing to help you do it.

Making cauldrons is not a solo job it should be a guild effort. If your raiders can’t donate time to help you out they should help fill in the gaps with some gold.

exactly. unlike previous xpacs, this one requires more group or guild support in crafting the better things… the base gear for legos being another example.

it’s best to have multiple farmers and crafters with everyone putting in than trying to be self-reliant like i’ve done in the past.

That’s true. But it’s “up to 30” depending on your group and they’re conjured flasks that disappear when you log out.

Coming from BFA, cauldrons and flasks are way more expensive to make. Mostly due to the removal of the “bonus” procs that BFA had.

That is how we do it. It’s just that we have fewer people who can do the transmute due to the extra rep grind. In BfA we had a half dozen alchemist alts transmuting and putting anchor weed in the GV every day.

If theres any extra at the end my group tells people to just grab them and chug em before they log out so they at least have a buff for a while next time they log in.

Also the addition of the extra rep grind. In BfA everyone had a couple alchemists who could do the anchor transmute every day fairly soon after hitting 120.

Yeah, we have about 4 alchemists in our raid groups. But apparently I was the only one that actually looked ahead and noticed I needed an off the books rep for shadestones. Once I pointed this out to the others, it took them about 2 days to grind the rep and start cranking them out as well.

We also have a policy that everyone has to bring at least 1 flask per raid day. Which gives us enough to craft the cauldrons we need, so the Alchemist only really have to provide the shadestones.
