Why are bosses like Dimensius so overly complicated?

I did this fight the other day, and while it wasn’t hard once we got to phase 3(it only took 3 attempts I think), the sheer number of platform changes and abilities seemed ridiculous. It felt more difficult to remember them all, than it was to actually do the boss? What is this about?
