“Winning” is losing, but then begging the people who beat you to let you tag along later, doing the thing that they already did without you.
This is the best definition of pay2win as it applies to WoW I’ve seen on these forums
ITT: People that aren’t buying boosts/carries legitimately voicing a grievance.
Also ITT: People that are selling boosts/carries defending their practice.
Also also ITT: Perennial contrarians being themselves.

Good question from OP… Why??
Maybe its the right thing to do because I hear most boostsers/carriers/powerlevelers live in some poor country and whenever they sell a boost/carry/powerlevel they get 12 grains of rice added to their weekly meal and their hostage parents get to live another 45 minutes.
So, in light of that, I can live with it.
Why wouldn’t it be allowed? Boost/Carries etc are a central part of any RPG genre. Don’t matter if it’s an ARPG like PoE/Diablo or MMORPG like WoW, FF. It’s just something everyone wants and people are willing to provide a service.
It’s an online game this is a part of the economy.
'cause they have to pay a sub to spam trade chat and boost people, and the only thing Activision / Microsoft cares about is money.
Ban VPNs, and the problem goes away. It’s all Chinese farmers on a VPN.
For you there isn’t, they want the achievement and everything that comes with it… they aren’t bound to your sense of achievement.
That or they’re just lazy, anti-social or whatever, but not wrong.
You and me might not feel good getting carried, but there are plenty that do.
Yup it’s pretty much the gen disc daily whine thread about boosting. I’ve met a lot of people doing boosting especially when the discords were more accessible. You end up playing with people who have similar goals and motivation level that are often disparate in guilds especially non CE ones.
Did you make another post on this topic with a different toon? I am almost 100% I saw the same thing earlier this afternoon.
Simple answer: Its part of the economy and always has been.
It is a service, the same way a Work Order is a service. Only time it is bad is if it need IRL money.
So you are a perennial contrarian?
Because if your entire argument is "if you disagree with me, its because you are selling boosts…thats pretty lame.
Yup.
It first started by using real life money for gold.
Then using real life money to buy gold to buy best gear.
Then using real life money to buy gold to do carries through content then piloting aka account sharing.
Then for the achievements.
Then for rating.
Pay 2 win has worsened in WoW over time and the worst was systemlands which is why BlizZard stepped in.
How does it hurt players? It severely impacted the lower ladder rankings in season 1 of systemlands for PVP as an example and BlizZard saw too many carries by higher rated players with much lower rated players. It acted as roadblock for legit players trying to climb rating going against such team configurations.
For PVE it really makes legit players starting out have a hard time to find groups as they do not have the achievements, gear, etc.
It’s all Chinese farmers boosting, what? Lolno.
Lolyeah it is.
Funny, I know plenty that do and they’re not Chinese farmers.
You’re just jealous I think.
Now if you’re going to a website there’s your problem.
Plus many of us use vpns for legit stuff.
Take your idea, write it down, fold it into a tiny bit and then shove it where the sun don’t shine.
How about you go away. Go scam stock markets or something.
Simple answer:
- Boosting is a normal player behavior.
- In-game economy exists, and players want to utilize their skills to sell as services.
The only thing I disagree with Blizzard on is GDKPs. I think they should be banned outright. This loot distribution system is directly responsible for a huge amount of RMT and directly promotes it. GDKPs promote a “for profit” attitude, which goes against my ideal of “for fun.” The simple fact GDKPs often set the minimum bid at 50% higher than a WoW token is evidence to show is a this “for profit” scheme. This enormous gold pot gets sold for real money in nearly all cases to fund some company in SEA, which leads to more gold buyers and gold-buying spam.
The moment my only viable route for progression involves a credit card, I quit. It’s getting dangerously close on Cata already.
Don’t know what your server is like, but we’ve had no issue finding sr+1 runs on cata
I see more GDKP spam than “Guild Recruiting for Heroic Raids” on my server. It’s one of the bigger servers.
