Why are all of the bottom row soulbind potency passives absolute trash?

I mean, they’re so bad that you actually have to give up a 2nd potency just to get one of the other two much better ones, making what should feel like a power increase feel like a side-grade at best. I unlocked Nadjias final row and was left scratching my head so I looked at the other covenant trees and it seems like they deliberately went out of their way with every soulbind with three branches at the bottom to attach the potency conduit to a passive that does absolutely nothing for dps while having the clear dps choice connected to endurance or finesse.

I don’t know how it is with other classes but all my finesse options are useless except one which is already slotted, so I’m forced to choose between a second potency with a trash passive or a useless finesse/endurance slot with a good passive. Why not just let people choose passives freely? Everyone will still just use whatever build sims highest either way so why make the system so unnecessarily rigid?

interesting choices man. And this is one thing that they may have actually gotten right.

If the best one was always under the potency slot you would NEVER take anything else. BUT putting it under one of the other ones means you have to think about and make a choice. Its not just automatic.

Its actually a decent design decision.

Cuz Blizzard doesn’t balance stuff

At least Bonesmith has a real nice damage conduit at the end that currently outvalues a 2nd potency

Something, something meaningful choice.

Niya is like this as well. It’s intentional. You choose a 2nd Potency trait, or the Soulbind’s unique damage trait. You’re not supposed to pick Potency and get the Soulbind’s DPS increasing trait. You’re supposed to pick one or the other.

What do you mean? Why wouldn’t a ranged healer want 3% move speed for each nearby enemy up to 15%? With such an amazing speed boost you’ll be able to out range the pack of 5 enemies after they hit you 30 times instead of 32 times! Assuming no daze, of course.

I can’t tell if this thread is real or not. Do people actually not understand how choices work? You do understand that a choice isn’t a choice if one option is clearly better, right?

A + X = B + Y can’t be true if A and B are the same value (a potency slot) and X and Y are not the same value. If X is greater than Y, A must be less than B for there to be equality (or near equality). Or in non-abstracted terms, potency conduits must link to meme traits and useful traits must link to endurance or finesse conduits or in order for you to consider taking a finesse or endurance conduit over a potency conduit.

This is simple stuff. Forum poster should stop trying to back-seat drive game design and just play the game if they can’t understand these types of things.
