Why am I able to get crazy high mastery on DK?

But not on my MM Hunter? My UDK has 66% Mastery and I’m struggling to hit 30% on my Hunter.

different specs convert mastery rating into mastery % at different rates

You can still get a similar amount of mastery, it’s just viewed differently on the stats pane.

180 mastery is 1 mastery point. For mm hunter, 1 mastery point translates to .625% mastery, whereas for unholy dk it translates to 1.8%. MM hunter mastery shows the % as its range increase, and not its % damage increase which would instead be 1.4% per mastery point.

Dimishing returns for mastery go off of mastery points, and not what shows up as 30% in the chracter sheet, so the first 10% penalty is not until 5400 mastery.

Not only does mastery scale differently for different classes/specs, it has significantly different effects. Look at what MM mastery provides you. With procs my MM’s mastery is 29.5% in pvp. That is the percentage that RANGE is increased. However, this also increases my damage by 66%.

It’s just a display decision. They could have decided to display my mastery as 66% to reflect the increase in damage rather than the increase in range.

edit: Kind of funny how that 66% number matches what you have on the UHDK.
