One thing I’ve just never understood about alliance players. Why do so many people play human? I’m trying to think back and I don’t think I’ve ever had a max level human character.
A huge part of the game to me is the story and the fantasy aspect. And I feel like playing this game gives you an opportunity to “pretend” if you will that you are not yourself for the time being. However it never fails the alliance always seems to be made up mostly of humans and by a good margin.
Why is this? For classic is it simply because the reputation racial is too good to pass up? Or the weapon skill for ret Paly? I just feel like overall the other races are better. Gnome seem to be obvious choice for caster, dwarf for priest and pvp paly argument for rogue as well with stoneskin. Nelf has Dodge for tanking, also afk stealth, higher agi for rogue.

Pretty much the rep and retpally advantages, yeah. For me at least.

Because I see the humans of WoW as only sharing a name and general appearance with real life humans but not much else. They’re the same as any other race in WoW, just as fictional and different from real life as any others. They have a great story, interesting characters, and a very compelling origin story with the Vrykul, titans and all.
Everything in WoW is a bit inspired from real life, I don’t see a problem. You’re playing a race that’s based on a real life animal and real life culture and I don’t see anyone hating on you for playing a Pandaren.
Dwarves and gnomes are based off German/Russian lore and culture.
Tauren are literally native Americans that look like cows, etc etc.

For a lot of classes it was your best option for looks. Mages and Warlocks doubled up with… Gnomes. Paladin doubled up with Dwarf which is pretty hit and miss for folks.
Plus the 10% rep.

Funny thing… I actually hate playing panda. Thought it would be cool because they weren’t all that common aside from monks… Needless to say not a day goes by I don’t want to race change to dwarf or dark iron lol. But I do see what you’re saying with the story line. And I’m not really hating just want to know.

I choose human pally because I was tempted by the rep bonus and because they look the best in armor.

Half the alliance races are (wo)manlets.
Of the remaining half, half of those are purple.
If your power fantasy involves being a “good guy” not being a (wo)manlet or being purple the there’s not any other choices.

armor models are designed for the human rigging
human has +5 sword/mace skill (which isn’t a small thing)
Rep bonus
Ideal starting area for the alliance
and much more, there’s a lot of advantages there

I really want to play a Male Pandaren but most gear looks terrible on them. So glad Blizz made Kul’tirans look good in armor.

Forsaken Rogue: Sees human warrior, stealths
Human Warrior: Sees Rogue stealth, uses Perception. See’s Forsaken Rogue.
Human Warrior: Charges Forsaken Rogue and proceeds to smash him to bits.
You haven’t lived until you’ve ruined a Rogues day with Perception.

Most Undead Rogues don’t make it past Step 2.

Hey! Night Elves are unique!
I like horde more too, because of this. More variety and Undead are so beautiful.
Actually after hearing y’all mention how they look in armor I can definitely understand. Considering how I feel about my panda. That being said gnome warrior are pretty fierce!
From a min/max PVE stand point the +5sword/mace is to good of a buff to pass.
As for PVP they have detect stealth. if i was rolling pvp war/rogue i would pick dwarf. Stoneskin removes blind and jacks rogue stunlock up.

People that play humans are generally boring people in life. For vanilla at least, in modern WoW is a different story since they have pretty damn good racial’s.

I like the Human cast animations better than the Dwarf ones.
Well, you have normal human, short human, shorter human, or purple human with pointy ears. Not really much variety to choose from.
Because Blizzard have made almost anything you do to advance your account to require rep.
simple answer is that the people playing humans in a fantasy game, are well, not human.
