Just did my first shadowlands dungeon on my new main. Everything is fine except the tank can’t / won’t hold aggro. They keep pulling and won’t do AOE damage to get the mobs focused on them. The tank starts demanding that others bring all the mobs to him and when we do they still don’t do AOE damage or anything to get aggro off of us.
Several times I ask them to please get aggro off of me so I can heal and they just laugh and keep pulling nearly making us wipe many times. Then when I tell them they have multiple AOEs such as vengeance, thunder clap, shockwave, dragon roar, whirlwind and can single target shield slam / taunt if needed they then began to personally attack all of us in the group. Then they start slamming the realms we were playing on.
Why are people so toxic and hateful these days? When someone asks things politely why do others just rage and throw fits? I just don’t get why people have to be so full of spite or refuse to teamwork in a team based game when you have to group to do dungeons.
the pug world has always been toxic…that’s why you join a guild or drag friends into the game with you.
that said…i know that it might just be the nostalgia talking, but i do recall there being a little less toxicity when we had to spam trade for “LF1M H SLABS.” Might just be because the sample size was smaller? Then again, it could also be because the community was smaller and word about toxic players got around?
I get it. I only have one other friend that plays WoW, and I refuse to do dungeons without him, since I won’t have someone to shoot the she scheisse with, so I wait for him or our guildies to get on.
I’m fairly slow to acclimate to people too, but I’ve found that constant exposure to them makes acclimation speed up. So maybe try to find a guild with people you can stand, and try to run stuff with them? Friendships always start from nothing anyway.
Some prankster replaced the normal water jug with salt water. Now the sea madness is setting in.
But I think that was just unfortunate luck for your first run. Most groups I’ve been in have been normal and the players plenty nice or just chill and silent. Once in awhile you might run into an unexplainable cave trogg like that tank, but I wouldn’t compare that minority to the rest of the community.
Dwarven in-game camp squad. Man I remember those back in the day. Used to camp people if they attacked Crossroads or Goldshire. Full on zone wide camps…man the nostalgia.
sounds like you dodged a bullet. played with 1 tank just like that but this guy didn’t even talk at all. you know what we did? we nuked tf out of the mobs and i literally had to mage tank it as arcane while healer just healed me. was a fast dungeon only issue was the mobs actually sileneced/interrupted making it hard for me and the healer.
we knew that guy was trolling too.
next time if i were you just let him die. then res/vote kick him. cannot stand people who play tanks/healers and just have big ego’s like that thinking they can do w.e. tf they want and get away with it. trust me i know i’ve played healer before as my first main. dealt with that bs from tanks and as dps now i get to deal with it but now its tanks and healers.
as to why they are toxic honestly idfk. i’d assume its cause nothing is being done about people like that i mean you can report um but nothing will happen unless they get mass reported. really baffles me that people would waste their time doing stupid stuff like that and thinking it’s funny.
sometimes yes people are new but usually new players wont do that they tank slower and actually try to hold aggro rather then run pack to pack. either way i show um who’s boss if we get a good healer i tank the dungeon if possible myself or pet tank it idgaf we will clear it without the actual tank XD
To use a cooking metaphor, i see the WoW population as a pot of stock reducing in a saucepan, the longer and longer you leave it on the stove without any new liquids being added, the stronger the flavor profile becomes, until the point it gets gluggy and overpowering right at the end. I see WoW’s population this way because Blizzard just focuses on milking the people that stick around instead of doing what it takes to bring in (and keep) new people.
No actual moderation.
Slap on the wrist ToU enforcement when enough people finally do report somebody.
Seasonal approach to content leading to rushed mentalities.
“Git gud” game director.
Generally unhappy playerbase due to the state of the game.
Not gonna lie, every other MMO I’ve been trying out lately hasn’t been like this in the slightest. Feels bad, but it is what it is. They bred this community and now we’re stuck with it.
