Sub 30 seconds … They used to be 2 minutes long and epic
Because of how they use the raids now, the raids tend to not actually be conclusions to the stories like they used to be.
Like we kill Fryakk and protect the Tree.
But we still have to deal with Tyr and whatever else is coming in the next couple of weeks.
In fact, unless I’m mistaken, most of the 10.2 campaign still isn’t even out.
Why are they so bad is what I’m wondering
because digital native generation is fixated on short term content, unless there is a video game playing in another screen they can’t watch a video that is longer then 30 seconds. Thanks tiktok and youtube shorts!
Because there’s like 2 hours of unnecessary cinematics peppered through the rest of the expacs questing so they gotta cut corners somewhere
It’s annoying lmao
I mean, there is an easy fix for this.
Design the stories to be told to completion before the raid comes out, so the raids actually serve as the narrative finale like they want.
Unfortunately, that’s hard to do when they timegate the story by weeks and various reputation. I believe they even have it timed so that the final campaign chapter is released with the final wing of LFR. Which they say is for story purposes as well as a likely false sense of progression.
But since you can jump into the raid on week 2, they can’t design the raid to actually be the conclusion, as you’ll have another 6-8 weeks of story to come out.
Legion was the best for raid endings
Correct, because each raid was the hard end of whatever patch they were part of. They were designed with either no story to follow, or meant to lead directly into the next patch.
Honestly now, or hell I think this actually started with the Jailer. Where they designed the raid cinematics to kinda slot in wherever, because the players would likely not be at the end of the story when they see the cinematic.
Real answer? Game is old. File is already pretty big. Fully prerendered cinematics are LARGE files.
They make fewer of them, and make them shorter now, in favor of in-game cinematics that use the cinematic models. It’s funny though, the fidelity of the fully rendered ones have gone way up in comparison to what we used to have, but we never see them anymore.
The only person who gets multiple, several-minute-long, fully rendered cutscenes is Sylvanas, and she’s in a hole now.
I don’t understand how we went from ending cinematics like Sargeras stabbing Azeroth with a sword to this, which isn’t any more impressive than any of the in-game engine talkathons that take place as you’re questing.
They’re just legitimately not even trying. Why even make an in-game cinematic when these characters could just as easily have said this via quest text? Watching them awkwardly speak this dialogue still doesn’t make this event cool. No one’s going to go back and re-watch this cinematic, like they would, say, the fall of the Lich King.
Yea this is the worst raid ending cinematic imo. I qas part of the few who “liked” Selpucher and the cinrmatic there. At least it gave conclussion to the self contained story but what we got today was such a slap in the face.
Now ofcourse there could be more,- campaignisnt over and they said theres still more content patches 10.2.5 10.2.7 and idk 10.2.8 maybe maaaybe there is more to end DF and tie it to TWW. That would be the best case scenario so should remain hopeful
Because each character gets 30 seconds of character development all expansion
