So find it funny that people moan and complain over a 4 hour maintenance. I dare them to try FFXIV where they take an entire day of maintenance to release big patches.
Devs forgot to tell the server guys that shadowlands is cancelled.

Considering the bugs galore, it’s not surprising at all. There’s full questlines you can’t complete cause of various bugs in the pre-patch.
i was only partially joking about the +1hr for yelling at programmers btw, its typically that long to track down the right guy to yell at for code breaking…
Is there a tracker somewhere that logs how often Blizzard misses or pushes back a deadline?
If there isn’t, there should be. There really needs to be something that puts a spotlight on their consistent ineptitude.

Maintenance does not always mean working on the game itself.
Maintenance also includes working on the servers themselves, checking hardware, all the backend behind the scenes stuff that keeps the game we play running.
I used to work in the maintenance dept. for a wood working company. Many times we would be working on a machine that went down only to find while fixing the original issue another issue that also needs taken care of that was not known about is found. So that extended the down time of that machine before we could use it again.
The same thing applies to servers and games etc. Things come up that were unforeseen and extend the time needed to bring it back online.
