Who's Making a New Dracthyr?

So, who’s making a new Dracthyr when we get the new classes? Which class are you rolling with: Hunter, Rogue, Priest, Mage, Warrior or Warlock? Or are you keeping to Evoker?

Are you going to be fighting or RPing in visage? If so, is your Dracthyr going to be an actual Dracthyr, or something else?

It’s going to be pretty interesting to see more classes around and how people might use that to color their characters… but honestly, Evoker is the only one that really fits in my mind. Seeing them use other kinds of magic just feels out of place and unsatisfying to me, like it’s inherently less interesting — with the partial exception of using visage form as a mage, which I’m sure will get some use if there are any blue or red dragon roleplayers left out there.

The idea of a big lanky dragon with wings being a rogue is very funny.

I’m somewhat tempted to make a sword and board warrior a la the opening dream/memory sequence of the Dracthyr intro. I’ve also long wanted to have a more “wolfed out” Gilnean with the visage form options. We’ll see which, if either, I end up going for.

when a mommy dracthyr loves a daddy dracthyr they make baby dracthyr

oh i read the title like it was a lore question lmao

i dont plan to make one but i do think the priest dracthyr are neat because of the unique animations they get with their wings. A rogue dracthyr with more snake like features would be cool, SNEAKY SNEKTHYR

Why make a dragon when you can make an Orc?

The Dracthyr Dream, for me at least, would be to make one with an orc visage. Or Tauren.

I also wish they had visage forms of the other races. Esp the Horde ones during the intro quest, you go straight from dragon island to orc city and you choose to take on a visage form but you’ve never seen a modern human before but somehow choose that? I can kinda get the elf one but idk, I’m just being a big baby about it because gnome or vulpera dracthyr would be very funny and I wish we had that. I am a little guy and ROAR I AM NOW A DRAGON

Will probably be making a Dracthyr Hunter because I’m lazy and, since I’ll be in Dracthyr form all the time, transmog won’t really be factor for that character.

My dragonborne fighter in a DND campaign died recently. I shall be immortalizing him in the form of a dracthyr warrior.

There are only two things that I honestly want for Dracthyr, and it bums me out that we’re not likely to see either of them.

  1. Visage form combat stance. I hate it, it looks so terrible because it has you using the unarmed melee idle with your fists held up like a brawler, which feels completely out of place for the class. I mean, why aren’t they just using the mage stance which is already in the game and uses the exact same models? And my Dracthyr’s face looks genuinely grotesque with how her mouth is contorted into some early PS2 era sneer.

  2. Visage form hands and feet. In a perfect world, visage form would be just letting you choose whatever race you want to look like with some extra minor customizations like dragon horns. But if we’re sticking with the “all Dracthyr visages look like this” approach… I really wish they had a slightly more unique silhouette by keeping their claws. Them having perfectly normal human bodies looks so weird to me, especially when you opt to have any of the scale patterns. The hands and feet stick out like a sore thumb to me; luckily I can hide the latter with boots, but I wish I could go gloveless with some of my “casual dress” transmogs without constantly fixating on how much cooler she would look if her hands felt more in-line with the concept of visage form being “weaker” and more limited than dragon disguises.

Warlocks having the Dracthyr toolkit makes me excited but conflicted because Orcs look very good in the upcoming T2 remake.

Oh and the stun reduction and bonus pet damage is pretty great too.

Nah, not because I don’t like dracthyr but because of the “too many races, not enough classes” dilemma. I really don’t want another hunter or rogue.

I’ll be making a rogue on my rogue collection account. That account, however, isn’t always active. Due to this, I’m going to change a rogue on my main account due to how fun I found it in the PTR.

I’ll be staying in visage form. The movement of Drac’thyr form is just a bit goofy to me. The design doesn’t bother me, I get the digitgrade legs and stuff, but I like less bounce in my movement.

I’ll be staying evoker. I use transformation items and the new glamor things from enchanting. Raid nights are 2.5 hours so I’m Belf, Velf or Undead for the first hour. Then I cycle through some random toys. Then I go Ogre, which can be up permanently.

Sometimes I think of just playing it AS an Ogre, some sort of primalist, but haven’t gotten further than a succinct Ogre RP profile.

I like the appearance of the visages, but I don’t really like Dracthyr lore… I can’t think of any fun character ideas based on their concept. I’m not that into dragons to begin with and they’re a particularly narrow niche of dragon society.

So… maybe I’ll make one and just pretend it is an elf of some kind. There are hairstyles which mostly cover up the scales!

I actually just made a Dracthyr the other day for PVP reasons. I don’t often RP so I am debating between making it a Tarasek or a Dragonman that was apart of Neltharion’s experiments that broke free. Dracthyr alone as a race are not interesting to me lore-wise since they’re such a cookie cutter race, so I’d rather at least have fun with the TRP by doing something interesting.

Will race change into one. Too much effort to roll new.
