"Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot."

My game was working fine until yesterday, then today the new patch hit and I just cannot update my game to play. I unnistalled battle net, deleted those folders in appdata etc, installed again, unnistalled wow, deleted the wow folder, and still I cannot play the game because everytime I try to update or scan and repair I get this message. I can play hearthstone normally, but wow simply is not working. What can I do?

same here cant update, restarted client/ pc many times and stilll wont work.

Stuck on initializing for nearly an hour now…

Great, guess it’s not just me… can we get this bumped

mine just start updating, and complete now. I guess the file server getting abit packed?

yer my intialization took about an hr then less than a min for the actual download lol

Ok removed the battle.net app completely, redownloaded the app and its working now

Same. So over this issue tbh. Happens randomly every few months for me. It shouldn’t be this hard for Blizzard to get this right.

Just wait though, I’m sure according to them (if you get an answer at all), the issue will be on your end. Of course it’s nothing to do with their app.

I really shouldn’t have tried Scan and Repair to try and fix a damn memory leak on Blizzard’s end. I uninstalled the app, deleted the folders associated, reinstalled and continue to receive this error message.

Gonna have to stick to launching without the app, as usual. Gonna suck when an update hits though.

Edit: Crap. My old workaround for not using the App won’t work now.

The CAS system was unable to initialize: Tact instance creation failed. Error (11): needs repair
Tact instance creation failed. Error (11): needs repair

GREAT!

I have the same problem I really need help
not that tech savy

old guy

help same problem

same…sucks

Do you fix it somehow or do you just wait and it eventually works?

Yesterday I have just waited, and eventually it worked itself out. No repair, no reset. Just close the Battle net app.
Today, the bar stuck at 99%.

I attempted to download the update and it kept on saying:

“Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot.”

I went to scan and repair and now when it gets to 99% completion it throws the exact same “Whoops” error.

Anyone have a workaround?

On another thread people have found some success with using a VPN. Doesn’t seem to work for everyone though.

Every time I search it up on the internet again and go through a variety of suggested solutions; generally uninstall and reinstall the battle.net app numerous times and deleting any temp files, try running as administrator and as a last resort, reinstall the game. But I’ve even had that not work before and had to try that 2 or 3 times before it finally took.

Yesterday I reinstalled the app 3 times, and that stopped it from scanning game files, then it sat on Initializing at 0% for like 30 minutes, but finally updated.

I just went to play again today, and it’s back to scanning my game files and telling me something broke. I’ve tried reinstalling the app twice so far, no luck.

Honestly at this point, it just makes me not want to play. It shouldn’t be an hours long battle to start the game on a regular basis.

That’s insane… I think I rather just wait for them to fix it, as much as I want to get busy on Pre-Patch Primal invasions and Uldaman.

Agreed. Total War Warhammer II is calling my name! Vampire Coast ahoy!

Yeah this has been happening to me for the past 2 days, i just wanna play mann. i uninstalled the game trying to solve a different issue but that was a stupid idea. i just simply cant download the game iv tried for like 2 dozen times.

Identical issue.
