Who wrote the new Baine questline?

Because it downright makes no sense for his character, lol. Yes the centaur have had bad blood with the tauren in KALIMDOR, but the fact Baine acts blatantly ignorant of this fact and is constantly disrespectful is extremely out of character. Baine is being more disrespectful to random Centaur than he ever was against Garrosh, The Grimtotem, or the Alliance itself. Imo it just screams bad writing and someone who doesn’t actually understand who Baine is as a character, especially after BFA. At this point in his life, he realizes appearances mean nothing, or at least he should. It’s hard to even blame him as a character when it comes off more so as a writer who simply has no idea who he even is.

I look forward to the end of the quest where everyone celebrates by having a BBQ :yum:

It was nice to see him actually do something for once but then he turned into a big wuss at the end again. God i hate him so much.

I think all Tauren should be very unsure and wary of these Centaur, considering the fact they were driven almost to extinction by the Centaur back in Kalimdor. When your family/friends/people around you are slaughtered, you’re likely going to have some sort of reaction when you see something very similar as W/E it was doing the relentless slaughtering.
To be honest, I was a little annoyed that I had to have “THESE CENTAUR ARE FRIENDS BECAUSE WE SAID SO, GO HUNT WITH THEM” shoved down my throat upon entering the zone, and kept thinking to myself “Boy… they sure didnt consider Tauren players at all during this zone.”

EDIT: Also, I dont know how to do Spoiler blackouts on the forums. Sorry.
BUT, considering Baine was captured by Centaur as a youngling and almost murdered by them, needing to be saved. I think his reaction is more than valid.

Yes, the draenei had bad blood with the orcs in DRAENOR, but why don’t they just look the other way on AZEROTH?

It’s not out of character.

PTSD and Trauma is a real thing and the fact you’re trying to sweep it under the rug is disgusting.

I wish we could go back in time and side with the Centaur against the Tauren.

I mean – it’s Baine. Doesn’t need to make much sense, he’s such a waste of a character. I hope he doesn’t make it off the Dragon Isles.

I get what you’re saying, but it just feels off because Baine is highly disliked by the playerbase because he doesn’t have the typical reactions one would expect. He also should’ve had those same reactions with Garrosh, The Grimtotem, and Alliance. However he’s always been a bit on the softer side, often being more like an Anduin of the Horde. It’s definitely never been in his character to randomly start throwing insults and blatantly judging someone based off their race alone, it just seems completely out of left field for him. Especially after how he was portrayed in BFA, the Alliance too have slaughtered tauren because they’re horde (Camp Taurajo) yet he was still extremely friendly and merciful with them.

Baine doesn’t get the luxury of behaving like your average Tauren because he’s the high chieftain of the tauren. He’s a leader and a head of state, so he has to be above what you’d expect from your random guy. It didn’t look good when they tried it with Varyan, it didn’t look good when Garrosh was making a fool of himself, and it certainly doesn’t look good with Baine.

Baine needed a second banana for this quest that would be the average Tauren that would have all those strong emotional reactions. This would a) show Baine’s leadership role and b) play to his tendency to be the voice of reason.

Okay then explain why he didn’t have this same reaction with Alliance and Camp Taurajo? Because he has always been extremely forgiving to the point where it’s annoying. Yet these random centaur are what trigger him?

So just because someone is a leader doesnt mean they get to have very real emotions?

Yes, he should be an example, but it doesnt matter who you are… When you go through something like being captured as a child, likely having awful things done to you, watching people around you die and having to be saved… Trauma doesnt care what your status is.

…you’re comparing apples with camels at this point.

Those are not related in the least.

A Base that’s used to train soldiers being a viable military target is not the same as not instantly forgiving centaur just because they aren’t the same centaur from Kalimdor.

I knew this was a “Baine is a traitor” thread. You just need to stop.

As much as I love to point out Taurajo as something bad the Alliance did… The Tauren at Taurajo were allowed to evacuate by the Alliance. They were warned by the Alliance that they had to leave or they would die. If you look at the bodies, the only ones who stayed behind were ones who armed themselves and stayed behind to fight. Everyone else was allowed to leave safely.

I’ll still waggle my finger at Alliance though and no one can stop me.

Baine is a traitor tho

Yes. That’s exactly what being a leader means. You have to keep it together because how you act and react affects everyone down the chain of command. It also reflects on those you represent. This is why leaders that act like idiots are very frowned upon in real life.

Again, Trauma does not care.
When you (and I really hope you dont) have a super awful, traumatic, life threatening experience happen to you, then you witness or experience something very very close to W/E caused that event, you tell us how well you can keep it together in that moment.

Are you dense? It’s completely the same. The point is, Baine is one to read between the lines as a character and not jump to conclusions, that’s always been who he is. When Taurajo happened, he realized exactly what you said, which is why he had a tamer reaction. When his father was killed by Garrosh, he realized it was more Magatha’s fault and even then showed her mercy and eventually forgave the grimtotem. When BFA happened, he would rather go against Sylvanas because of her blatant cruelty which would put his people directly in danger.

Tell me how a character like that suddenly translates to, “OH MY GOD, CENTAUR! Idc about your history as in individual or anything, you’re automatically scum of the earth and disgusting and can never be trusted! REEEEEEEE!” You’re acting like the previous scenarios wouldn’t cause him trauma. They did, yet his reaction still wasn’t what you would’ve expected.

If he was only that passionate about the inhabitants of Taurajo.

That’s what throws me off.

  1. Alliance at Taurajo murder dozens of innocent tauren civilians = I sleep.
  2. Magatha poisons Cairne, causing his death = I sleep.
  3. Alliance in direct conflict with Horde, full scale war = I sleep.
  4. Centaur merely exist = REAL SH**!!!

What?

Don’t blame Baine, he was dropped on his head by an extra-dimensional entity.
