me i do i think it would be great for pet attack speed to make a come back like the 1.0 attack speed of broken tooth back then in vanilla.
I want pets to have player/party buffs.
Like Wolves from classic… Increase AP.
But more.
I dont like either of your ideas sorry
We don’t need another Wrath where every Hunter was required to use a wolf lol
who doesnt have a wolf by now in their stable?..lol.
Truly. This thing about wanting to avoid the BiS pet, well who isn’t running a Ferocity pet?
Sure, there will be the PvP players, and a few bucking the trend, just as I did when I ran a Tenacity Black Boar while most others may have been running a wolf. I did it for the survivability. Nowadays a Ferocity pet will get me further, so what’s the point in having the pet families?
I liked it better when my pet could deliver some AoE(Thunderstomp) and was an unkillable Tanking aggro magnet, as was its job. Killing was my side of the job.
Simplification sucks… the fun out of the game.
I want pet speccing to come back more than anything else so that I can use my mechanical pets again. Having them be locked to cunning spec makes them less than useless.
I still use a Cunning pig when doing dailies and such.
The movement speed saves time when the ferocity isn’t needed to tank.
I want pets to stop existing.
Let me lust without one as MM.
kthxbai.
Take up leatherworking and make some drums.
Nah, for that I just take the Trailblazer talent that gives me aspect of the cheetah when I’m not in combat and just keep a ferocity pet out at all times for the sake of simplicity so I don’t have to worry about healing them as much.
The pet system is just bad, plain and simple. They never should have reverted back to this system in the first place and they need to fix it.
It’s not about lacking the pet. It’s about feeling pressured to use one particular pet. In Classic every Hunter is using a cat, in BC every Hunter is using a ravager, and in WotLK every Hunter will be using a wolf. When there’s one pet that clearly performs better than everything else it effectively removes choice.
If you think Ferocity is mandatory now, you should look back to when Ferocity pets had a straight up +10% boost to damage, crit, and attack speed. There is far more choice now than there was then.
Before this so called “simplification” we mostly had one or two viable pet choices, outside of the Cata/MoP/WoD era where we had to take a certain 5 pets around to fulfil whatever raid buff was missing. In either case there was very little viable choice in pets from an identity/cosmetic stand point. It wasn’t very fun at all.
If you’re talking about pet respeccing, yes that should come back. However the pet system as a whole is actually pretty good aside from that. BFA and SL have had the best balance between pet choice and pet capability.
This is what I want to stay away from as well. I think hunters should be able to use a pet that either they just love, or matches their transmog, or personal taste. We shouldn’t have to choose something like a wolf because it provides the best buff. I should be able to use whatever pet I want, and set it’s spec which then provides the best DPS buff, tank debuff, or whatever.
Same man… same…
I’ve never thought Ferocity was mandatory, not when it was a true damage spec, and not now as a pseudo-Tanking spec. It was and is a Choice.
Not mandatory now, and wasn’t Extra-Mandatory then.
Certain 5 pets, no. Certain 5 pet Families.
You think it wasn’t simplification, when the result is Ferocity out-tanking a Tenacity pet?
One or two viable pets? Sounds like outliers. Idano, does Blizz ever display sense when dealing with outliers?
Pets seem pretty homogenized, to the point that it hardly matters what pet family is chosen. Is that the far more choice you’re referring to?
No please. Don’t need that.
Well, yes. Exactly. If it mattered which pet you chose it would devolve into a handful of fixed choices or even one fixed choice. If you go to BC classic you’ll see that just about every Hunter is using a Ravager pet because it’s the highest DPS. In WotLK it will be a wolf. While pets should have different capabilities they need to avoid “clear bests”.
And yes, it’s a little strange how Ferocity pets are better at tanking than Tenacity pets due to how Leech and Beast Cleave work. However Tenacity is useful to have in raids for the extra health and defensive. And Cunning is useful for PvP for the root break. Before BFA it was Ferocity for almost every situation because of the significant built-in damage boost.
Yes I am referring to pet respeccing. Not being able to use the pet of our choice that best matches our style because it’s locked to a garbage spec (depending on the activity) was the reason why respeccing pets was introduced in the first place. Who, how, and why somebody thought that was a good idea? I have no idea.
No instead the thing id do is go back to the Legion pet system and allow pets to respec but make leech baseline for ferocity tenacity and cunning as a secondary trait and ferocity give ether armor or parry buff to replace it then the hunter can heal from the pet auto attacks damage abilities and Kill Comand as added sustain. We need 3 viable pet specs and the leech is so important for hunter survival is should be baseline to all pets specs and for marksmen just give them a leech on auto attacks and arcane shots thru lone wolf.
Even in legion you either brought a Ray/core hound for lust or you brought a crane/quilen/moth for its battle rez.
Though these didn’t matter as much since most of the community was so use to the incompetence of hunters that most didn’t realize they were options for us.
Yea not everyone knows how to play wow at higher levels a small minority of players keep pushing the game to get harder then keep using addons to make it easier. If you invite a hunter into a raid or dungeon or get one for LFR you might need to explain to them this instance needs those and did they remember to turn off growl after doing solo world quests. But the Legion system allowed for more choice in PVP and PvE questing. Maybe they should add being able choose a skill from all the pet family skills and replace the default so any pet can be a hunter’s swiss army knife in any context or situation. But going back to legion pet spec would be better and in the right direction. So pet spec training and pet skill training should be a thing then pet look can just be a player’s vanity or RP choice for their style and not mandatory you need a moth cause XYZ reason.
