Who started with Warcraft 1?

It’s my son’s birthday - unfortunately I did the math! Lol Anybody left here that started WoW when they were 10? (Or so?)

I doubt there’s anyone left to even answer this.

I’m ancient all of a sudden with a 35 year old son. Both sons played through Legion. Eventually came back for BFA a little, and only the younger one tried SL for a hot minute.

Soo…you would have had to be that young and still stuck through it. I’m betting on maybe 5

Wth? Kids birthdays do that…lol

PS - I’m the one that took them to mall game store to buy WoW and paid for subscription. Never thinking one day I’d play

I had a relative who played WoW 1 Orcs Vs Humans. I played Diablo back then and had no idea the two were connected. This was back in around '97 /98.

Fast forward to 2009, my significant other introduces me to Wrath of the Lich King. It took me a while to put two and two together and remember that this is that same "Orcs vs Humans " game.

I’ve been playing for about 13 years now and WoW / Blizzard has been a part of my life long before I even started playing.

I’m not old, I’m young at heart! :cherry_blossom: ^.^

My former mythic raider boyfriend who no longer plays volunteered just now that he started with Warcraft 1.

That’s a sweet story. I didn’t play anything unless Oregon Trail counts lol. I was too busy raising them, a ranch home taking care of chickens and horses - and keeping rattlesnakes off the back porch. I didn’t start until mid MoP.

I wish they’d remaster Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. There’s so much of the game’s lore you did in that game which would be great to do again with modern graphics and the modern RTS game.

I’d replay it all happily.

Though I do remember looking at the screen once and thinking that it looked like the board game Risk on a computer. And at least it didn’t have blood like The Prince of Persia.

World of Warcraft is my first Warcraft game, but I’ve played Blizzard games most of my life.

I didn’t start with WC1, but I started on WC2 at my friends house. Then WC3 came out and I got that on my home computer.

I’ve been playing this franchise since Warcraft 1. I still have the 3.5 floppies somewhere…

A cousin of mine came to visit and brought Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. I loved it and was bummed when he and his CD left. Few months later I bought the demo for Warcraft II. I’ve been hooked on the gameplay/story every since. I thought a game like WoW would be amazing even before I knew a game like WoW was possible.

Vanilla was a hard grind for me bc it was geared to end-game 40 Man Raiding and just to level was a slog. No dungeon finder, not quest help. One quest line would take you from Darkshire to Menethil Harbor to Desolace for a pittance of xp. Couldn’t mount until level 40 and that only gave you a 60% speed bonus.

I always played for the story, because at the time the story was second to none and Blizzard only put out content when he was ready. Not to be cliché, but the Activision merge ruined that part of what made Blizzard great

Almost. I started with WC2 in 1997.

I was like 14 or 15 when Warcraft came out. It was an ok game. Can’t say it blew me away. But I was never a fan of RTS. now a few years later when Diablo came out I became a big Blizzard fan.

I played Warcraft 1 when it came out. Anyone else remember “You’re sound card works perfectly” in the alliance voice?

I also remember playing warcraft 2 in college over LAN with friends … Glittering prizes FTW

Started with a WC1 demo on a ‘150 games’ walmart CD around 95-96. Been a steady customer until recently.

I used to play a ton of Starcraft as well. Never got into SC2 though. I actually refunded it after only playing a few hours.

If it wasn’t for my sons and the books I’d have no idea what was going on in parts of Shadowlands.

:joy: At least you didn’t have to beg your mom for a subscription. I remember asking them why I should pay for them to play a game when there was all these free ones - once you purchased them. And hearing, “Maaom! Puhleese?” …then long garbled reasons I didn’t understand. Lol - and then, me: “Two? Both of you separate???” …sigh of capitulation

I started with WC 1 when I was in junior high. Friend of mine had got the game, and got me to get it. Was a hassle to do multiplayer back then (no battle.net at the time), but I actually got a few multiplayer games in over the old dial-up modem.

In case anyone is wondering, Humans were stronger than Orcs. (Healing was better than raising skeletons, and the couple advantages orcs had didn’t make up for how much stronger it was to have healing, though orcs did get some late-game advantages that almost closed the gap).

WC 2 reversed who was stronger, but with a much wider gap (Horde just dominated Alliance in multiplayer with Bloodlust).

I’ve been playing since private omega phase one of Warcraft 1 in 1990. :stuck_out_tongue:
