This topic was bound to be made at one point, so here it is. I expect Nelves and Shelves will lead the effort, so one of them? I also doubt combined effort is likely.
We don’t even know if Azshara is going to die in the raid but I think it’s worth discussing.

If it has to be a race and it can’t be a cooperative effort, then night elves.
But really, it shouldn’t be either Horde or Alliance to win. It should be a neutral group like the Champions of Azeroth, with mercenaries from both factions working for them.

Alliance. Horde got Uldir.

But… but! Alliance is getting Battle for Dazar’alor and probably(?) Crucible of Storms!

Crucible of Storms, maybe. Feels very thin as a raid, but I’d be willing to pull some Chronicle halfsies credit on Azshara if we got that. As for Dazar’alor… I dunno if that’s necessarily the Alliance raid credit, as the conflict is against one another and not a greater foe. But I do see what you’re saying.

The question is who Azshara pissed off more the Alliance or the Horde?
You can have the Azshara kill if she ends up destroying all of Aszhara, I mean if I were her, that would be my first target.

My theory is this:
Azshara’s coming is said to level the playing field between Horde and Alliance, leaving both of them unable to focus on the faction war, and forcing them to combine their efforts (big surprise) to invade Nazjatar.
Alliance is said to be in the lead after the Battle for Dazar’alor. Therefore, it stands to reason that the Alliance will be hit harder by Azshara in 8.2.

It has just 2 bosses
I’m not sure what lore impact it’s going to have at all but my guess is it’ll involve Alliance just based on the fact it’s located in Stormsong Valley under dungeon.

I think it’s all just an excuse to finally show us what N’Zoth looks like.

She’s probably pissed that Kul Tran Fleet escaped from her grasp. I think she’s going to destroy them since the fleet is what’s changing tide of war and we know Alliance will get hurt before Horde loses (in a matter of weeks).

No one, we get to Azshara and she defects to one Faction for playable Naga. One can dream at least.
Better yet, Blizz goes back on their decision neutral races were a mistake and we all get Naga, thus ending the Faction war as we bond over our mutual love of our new comrades.

Horde get Naga, cuz night elves hate former night elves. Alliance get Jinyu cuz they already have Jinyu. Demand it.

All descendants (mutations) of Highborne in one faction? Kaldorei Empire v2.0? I like the idea, just gotta give it a bit different name

My guess would be Nelves, therefore Alliance.
Also I love the term “shelves”

i mean… why shelves?
malfurion and tyrande have a personal vendetta on her, isn’t it?
i hope that is alliance, but if she “wins” then that’s fine too because i also hope that is azshara the one who destroy the kultiran fleet, that would give me a reason to care about her at all.
if have to chose the ones who lead the effort it should be tyrande and jaina. for obvious reasons.
because i also bet that 8.3/4 is where an alliance city gets raided.
why i am saying that? because i would like xmog related to kultirans, i am so sick of troll related mogs, i also hate the fact that alliance characters drops troll-themed xmog in dazarlazor instead of, something interesting about the character.
also, azshara needs to do something evil before being killed.
raid tiers are killing villains at a faster rate than blizzard can produce them, we can’t afford to lose her in a second tier raid.
You mean he isn’t a giant fish that moonlights as a tentacle monster?

Oh no, it’s too early for me to follow Alliance characters! especially Jaina - if that’s one you chose for Horde.
As for Shelves, I think they should be angry with Azshara for betraying them and she’s the reason they had to go under bubble for 10K years. Thalyssra doing something to prove she’s not second Azshara could also make an interesting storyline. But their beef with Azshara is not demonstrated and acknowledged at all and it’s nowhere close to the vendetta of Night Elves. Anyway, I still think Shelves will lead the effort for the Horde and they’ve been largely absent from the game, maybe this is where they’ll get some screen time!

oh no, hmm i wasn’t talking about the horde
but i understand why you said it.
blizzard has a fetish with making alliance characters neutral and we all hate that.
the best resolution that we can have is a ToT scenario where is unclear who canonically “wins” (i expect that is the nelfs) but with our respective factions leading the efforts, like in 5.2.
i don’t know if i made myself clear.
you know what? that sounds interesting. i hope they develop thalysra more so she can become a respectable adversary!
this is the perfect time to have a storyline with her.
