As the title asks:
How many current classic players plan to move to TBC if launched?
How would you like to move to occur? only allowing fresh level 1s or being able to xfer your current character(s)?
I know this mage will be camping the dark portal a week in advance (or the transfer queues, whichever it is!).
I would honestly be surprised if Blizzard goes the route of TBC and doesn’t push all classic servers into it. I’m sure running two versions of WoW is not ideal for them, and 3 would have an even more split playerbase. Once classic content is exhausted, it makes sense to move it all forward IMO.
I’d play it, assuming we get enough time with classic content. If they did split the servers, and we got enough time with the phase 6 content, I’d go forward with it even though I really didn’t like the outlands. Whether I stick around through all subsequent phases would remain to be seen but I’d certainly give it a shot.

I’d like it to be the next phase after P6. Total kick in the teeth to those that want to stay in vanilla, but you asked what I wanted, not what is fair.
More fair would be level 60 boosts. We played classic, lets focus on TBC. I Hellfire is overcrowded at launch, then hop on your free epic riding and rip through any of the 8 starter zones to work on professions. Helps solve congestion. Also, Pallys/Shaman of the opposite faction don’t start in a massive hole.
Meanwhile, Classic servers are untouched leaving everyone with their progress there.
Blizzard isn’t going to dump people into TBC with no options to stay ‘Classic’.
However, server transfers will be required (and probably some mergers). So the question really is, “Will MY Server Be Transitioned to TBC” (requiring Classic players to transfer to a ‘Classic Only’ server) or “Will MY Server Stay ‘Classic’” (requiring TBC players to transfer to a TBC server).
There will likely also be a few ‘FRESH SERVER’ options for those players who want ‘FRESH’ and TBC. However, I doubt there will be any ‘FRESH SERVER’ options for Classic if/when TBC launches.
Whether Sulfuras transitions to TBC or I gotta transfer to a TBC server, I’m going through that Dark Portal.
As I’ve read through a few post it seems there is a very die hard core of Classic players who want NOTHING to do with anything past that, which is fine, I could see them simply re-purposing a few of the classic servers and use them for TBC and then consolidating lower population classic servers.
As i see it they have proven they have the knowledge and hardware to do it at minimal cost with what would be maximum benefit! It makes good business sense for Actiblizz
TBC Classic will be a water-down matured-patch version with the faceroll heroic dungeon (& more) nerfs, but I will still play both it & Classic in a casual manner, in all likelihood.
I think implementing temporary layering would alleviate any lag/overpopulation issues in any given zones.
I’m sure I would move eventually. I would like to see a system where you can perform a one-time copy of your Classic Vanilla character to a Classic BC server of the same classification (i.e. PvE -> PvE and PvP -> PvP). Ultimately, I’m hoping for WotLK servers, but first thing’s first.
I would definitely move to TBC, but to be honest I’d prefer if we had to level from scratch. It would eliminate much of the bottlenecking in HFP, and keeps the economy from being tainted by transfers/copies.

TBC was my favorite by far, I would immediately go there. As for fresh vs transfer, either way I would roll lvl 1 and keep my 60 twinked
While i agree with you, that is a subjective view. I’ve seen many people who loathe the changes TBC made to WoW and want nothing to do with it. Many hated flying being implemented, the introduction of pallies and shamans into each faction, the resilience stat among other things.
I will go or move/start over. TBC is what I played and remember the most. Feral druids were amazing in TBC, and that’s what I want to play.
i never played tbc so i’d at least try it
i heard warlocks are really good there but I’ve also heard that destro lock is ruined by resilience, so i’m not sure if i’d stick around for the pvp scene

I think managing such a switch would be such a massive headache and cause more discontent within the community that it would be worth. How would they decide which servers move forward and which ones don’t? Even with free transfers, it would kill a lot of server community and identity if a ton of players transferred off (names, guilds, bank alts, etc.) and would leave a lot of people unhappy. I think the simplest solution would be the best, and while some people would be unhappy the complications of trying to split it would be worse. I could be wrong but that’s my take on it, anyway. The only thing I do feel pretty certain of is that classic won’t last forever, and I bet they’d prefer to evolve the classic servers into TBC than to deal with the headaches of splitting the content.
