Who is your most hated character?

Greetings! I hope this discussion will be a fun one, as well as a heated debate!

My choice for the worst world of warcraft character is none other then the coward Thrall, and here’s why.

When I was a child, I started my World of Warcraft journey, (Alliance at the time) sometime between late 2004 or early 2005? I can’t fully remember. But what I do remember is sometime before BC I learned of Thrall and his bad@ssery, so I knew I wanted to be apart of this amazing character. So when BC launched, I joined the horde as a blood elf rogue to be part of Thrall’s Horde. Time came and went and Wrath was launched, which introduced Garrosh. (I know he was in BC, but he didn’t truly come to light until wrath).

Thrall and Garrosh were in my eyes like a father and son. Garrosh, being a young, blood-thirsty son, while Thrall was the calm and collected father trying to teach patience and discipline.
When Cata hit, that was the beginning of my hatred of Thrall. First, he pushes Garrosh into the War chief position even with Garrosh’s protests that he wasnt ready to be a warchief. He knew he was hot-headed and wasn’t good with the politics of the other races. Thrall knew how he was and pushed him into the position anyways, all to become a “savior of the world” (put a pin in this, I’m coming back to it) something he could have done while remaining warchief. He chose to abandon his people during our time of crisis. Garrosh killed Cairne, Thrall’s close ally and friend. And what did Thrall do? Nothing. He continued to play around with pebbles, claiming it was for the greater good. All the while, dancing through Nagrand, trying to get under Aggra’s skirt. He only returns to put himself in the spotlight to be the “hero”. He was powerful and did do many great things, but only for himself, and himself alone.

Meanwhile, the Horde were splitting themselves apart. Although I liked Garrosh, he should have never been warchief. The bombing of Theramore was wasn’t a bad move by Garrosh. It was a military base and they were at war with the Alliance. It was sad and horrible, yes, but that is war. Regardless, it was the final nail in the coffin to splitting the Horde in half. Even Jaina came to Thrall asking him to do something about Garrosh, and help his people. But he didn’t care. He only cared about his new family, and the Horde was “no longer his problem”. But, of course, after the Horde had fully split and it was Horde against Horde with the Alliance army at their steps, in Thrall fashion, he finally “came to the rescue” where all could see Thrall “savior of the world” step in and and act like this was all his plan. Not when his best friend died. Not when the Horde needed him. Not when they were spliting apart. Only when everyone else could see him intervene. And he proceeded to get tossed out of the way like the b$%#@ he is by Garrosh. After WE dealt with Garrosh and beat him, Thrall decided he wanted to kill him, but Varian stops him, you’ve all seen the cinematic. Then the trial starts blah blah blah.

(Oh - almost forgot -HE STILL DIDNT HELP HIS PEOPLE. Just pisses back off to, I’m assuming outland, before WoD started.)
Embarrassed by what Garrosh did to him, I’m assuming he found it his “duty” to hunt him down and kill him. He challenged Garrosh to the Mak’Gora. Tried to blame Garrosh for Thrall’s failings, then cheats. The elements knew Thrall’s heart was in the wrong place, and abandon him because of it.

When the Banshee did all those horrible things, where’s Thrall? In outland. Ignoring the Horde’s problems. He’s very aware of what’s going on, but doesn’t care. It takes Saurfang to pull him out of his pity party…(oh, and first thing out of his mouth! Him barking about how he won’t lead the horde…:rofl:) He returns for his own benefit, not for the horde, but for the spotlight.

He admits He’s horrible, admits Garrosh was his fault. What does dear ol’ momma say? “Oh, it’s not your fault, it was Garrosh. He made his own choices, move on.” …(side note every time I had to do the entry quest to shadowlands where Thrall threw his axe and then complained about every weapon you gave him, I wanted to stab someone :unamused:. And I had to hear it many…many…many times…) I’ll end my rant here.
:grinning:

In closing, Thrall shouldnt be part of the council, and should be banished from the Horde entirely. However, the Horde are no longer my home, and haven’t been since Cata.

So! Who is your most hated character??

Im going to have to go with baine.
I dont see the point in him.

Hes a horde leader with no love for the horde.
Hes only used in the plot to prop up the alliance.
In shadowlands he didnt even do anything.

He needs to go.

I would have to say, Nathanos.

My orc warrior wanted to punch him right in his arrogant mouth almost every time he opened it.

Any of the characters the blizz has decided to bop with the villain bat and/or the stupid bat for the sake of making plot happen. It’s frustrating.

Maybe if the story you’re wanting to write can’t happen without the characters acting unlike themselves, the story shouldn’t happen. Crazy concept.

Deathwing.

The trailer for Cata was amazeballs and had me pretty hyped to encounter Deathwing. Now that’s a boss with some serious badassery, or so I thought.

What we actually got was a sniveling, whiney, incessantly bratty, obnoxiously voiced, derpified ignoramus of a pieced together dragon who made us clean his toenails and slip and slide through his nasty back acne.

Not even that nothing burger Jailer is as big a disappointment as Deathwing was. Big stupid pyscho dragon.

Calia.

She has no claim to Lordaeron, why is this random idiot made up in a novel disrupting a peace summit, getting herself and others killed, then hanging around the Undercity like she matters?

The only thing giving me hope they won’t stupidly try to make her the forsaken leader, is how some npcs share the sentiment.

Baine is up there too, but at least he could be awesome if the writers weren’t abject failures. His dad was awesome, he’s consistently making the worst possible decision.
