Just a small thread for fun, Who is your favorite npc that isn’t or hasn’t been a major player at any point in WoW’s history.
The criteria here is vague, like, the character could be relevant for a zone for instance, but not major in an expansion plot.
Some boundaries.
- character has to be alive still.
- no unique model.
- no appearances in pre rendered scenes or cgi ones.
- non unique model but some unique gear can be considered, it depends.
You can mention how many you like or find intriguing or interesting and maybe why.
I feel that with the narrative focus so much on the “main characters” that sometimes we miss secondary characters that carry a lot of weight in their own way. Maybe a character that has been major in a book but isnt in game.
I mentioned before, but Master bruised Paw, the hidden master was one of such figures, peak monk class fantasy in form of a questline.
There are also some kaldorei npca that always intrigued me not for what they do, but their names.
Eileese shadowsong is someone you find in your Garrison, and there is also a Fiskal shadowsong I believe in Teldrassil, a bit more known, there is a Warden named Drenalim whisperwind, and those are names that surely would raise curiosity, but if they are connected to Maiev/Jarod or in drenalim’s case to Tyrande is something never explored.

I like that one blue himbo drakonid in Azure Span who asks you for help in deciphering an “ancient relic” because he can’t figure it out. And when it turns out to be a basic magic homework assignment, he gets embarrassed and shuts it off and changes the topic.

Soulbinder Tuulani. I was hoping her MU self would make an appearance as the new leader of the Auchenai, but they got Maladaar back doing it which is cool I guess. I just would have preferred Tuulani since she’s actually a soul priest and not a paladin like Maladaar is.

Senior Peon from WoD. Proving that with a little hard work and willingness to not nap every 2 minutes, a Peon can make his way up in the world.

Moxie Lockspinner. The one saving grace of Stormsong Valley, as far as I’m concerned.
Super minor? Keep Watcher Kerry of course. The absolute madman of a cheesemonger who apparently managed to recapture Tiragarde Keep during the 4th war, hold it for the entire duration of the campaign and then rebuild it as a Northwatch stronghold and a thorn in the horde side (and mind!) afterwards.
Druz for sure. Every evil capitalist overlord needs a right hand man. And he was born for this role.
As far as intriguing- I think back on one of my early memories of playing Vanilla WoW, and encountering The Black Bride. Her name is intriguing. Her hair is fierce. And I love her attitude:
Make ready for the carnage.
I want to see the Alliance rot.
Go, , into Arathi Basin! Slay, SLAY, as you’ve never slain before!
I wondered if there was lore about her, and there wasn’t much. That made her all the more intriguing. I was happy to see her pop up in Legion when you level your prestige. I was bummed out when I heard they might have killed her off in BfA - but I guess she was spared.
I wondered about her back story.
Did the scourge attack on the day of her wedding?
Was she an eccentric woman who wore black at her wedding, and was known as the black bride even in life?
What is driving her to fight for the basin? Because it was her home in life? Or just to defile it and stamp out the Alliance?
She has just kinda been hanging around for near decades, but she always stuck out to me.
Tyrathan Khort was kind of cool in Shadows of the Horde. It was nice to see him at Voljin’s funeral. I was hoping he would make an appearance afterward, maybe attempting to avenge Voljin. But he hasn’t. Maybe when Voljin returns?
Some people might say there is Human fatigue, though. I’d say the fatigue is that it’s always Anduin and Jaina.

I think she counts: Taoshi.
Just her overall character and being a sort of opposite of what you’d expect of a Pandaren. Plus, her line in that scenario from Isle of Thunder is just gold:
Hu’seng the Gatekeeper says: There is no escape now. The only way out is through me!
Taoshi says: Through you, is it? I think we can manage that.
Taoshi says: Would you prefer we go through the belly, or the ribcage?
