Like the title said, who is your favorite character from the modern (Lets say since WoD is the “new era” ) Warcraft
Mine personally is Anduin, I like his character development throught the years and his relationship with Genn, a son that lost his father and a father that lost his son, although Genn still have Tess.
Thalyssra
Thalyssra’s story of overcoming impossible odds and defying her fate to liberate Suramar will always be my favorite story in World of Warcraft.
Also, Thalyssra’s setup as a love interest for Lor’themar also makes for the possibility of a union between the nations of Silvermoon and Suramar, what would arguably make for the most powerful union of Elves.
Kiro is awesome. Seeing him at Rastakhan’s funeral and his repudiation of the Alliance was great. And I enjoyed how he got his people into the Horde, despite Baine.
Thalyssra, Bwonsamdi, Oculeth Talanji…and I think Umbric too.
Also I like if the story team touch back at these interesting NPC companions in Legion if possible… I know there are other more I like, but these are the ones I could remember as they were impactful in my game/story experience:
Xal’atath and Thal’kiel the Denied have potential to become interesting important NPC’s…
As does Loramus Thalipedes who is Alive, sharing a body with Razelikh the Defiler. With the new Lore on the Dread Lords this could be a nice good way for us the PC to find out. (IMO)
I was going to mention Teron Gorefiend but I realise that he is only mention in Legion as a Legendery item, but seeing that we are visiting the realm of the dead it be interesting to see him there.
Tehd Schumaker: One of the most amusing characters, if you’re into the Forsaken, or warlocks in general. He’s an NPC that feels like a fellow adventurer, really. I don’t know if there would be a reason for him to appear in Shadowlands… but just put him in Blizz.
Bwonsamdi: Great voice acting for a great character. Bwonsamdi delivers for me, whether he is picking on me for dying, or cringing at Rezan, or even his taunting of Nathanos- he is witty and entertaining.
Sire Denathrius: Aside from being a compelling villain, there is also some very interesting lore having to deal with the Sire that MUST be further touched upon. Does anyone else want to join the “Free Denathrius” cult with me?
If I can cheat, that would be Azshara, who was featured in a game for the first time rather recently (cameo in Cataclysm has very limited exposure). She is an interesting addition to several plotlines, interesting to listen to, etc. Since the Warbringers cinematic she is one of my favourites.
If can’t cheat, that would be Xal’atath. She is a big unknown, but is one of those characters who is a sign that something interesting is about to happen, and a source of interesting story bits.
Actually, all “talking weapons” are interesting in one way or the other, and offer interesting perspective to the events. I wish there would be more things like that.
For a side characters, extra mention for Sur’jan. Even though his side story is rather short, but it gave me some opportunities to smile. Maybe we’ll see him again someday.
There’s a real big skyterror dat I name Jarkadiax. I need his tongue…
What’s dat, Sur’jan? Not his tongue? His eye? You sure? Hrm.
I need his eye for my next ritual. I know what you’re thinking. De tongue makes more sense. Dat’s what I–
Look, Sur’jan, I still think it’s his tongue. We’ll see which of us is right!
Go get Jarkadiax’s eye and bring it back to me for de next ritual.
Oh, and don’t stay in Nazmir. Only crazy people come here.
If we’re judging by WoD onwards, do the AU versions of older characters count? If so, Gul’dan by a landslide. Not even a contest. He was just so much fun every time he was on screen.
If not, uh, Thomas Zelling I guess. I liked him a lot for what little screentime he had. I’m genuinely having a hard time because a lot of new characters are just one-zone wonders and don’t end up doing anything major. All the main characters are ones who’ve been around for ages.
I really, really want to pick something unique that nobody else does so I can pat myself on the back for being a hipster, but… yeah, Thalyssra is just too cool. With the Nightborne, the Blood Elves can actually start doing interesting things again with an interesting co-evolving story that pushes the other forward.
Gul’dan is the most I’ve ever loved to hate someone in this game. He’s so ominous from the moment you free him in the WoD opening that it’s incredible.
