Do you have a favorite author?
I prefer to have ChatGPT write novels for me.
Hmm. Probably Terry Pratchett with Roger Zelazny a close second.
I love Stephen king, Patricia Cornwell, John Scalzi, John Grisham, Lincoln Child among many others. I guess I read a little too much lol.
Wide variety for me: Hunter Thompson, John Steinbeck, Robert E Howard, Jack London, Craig Johnson, Jim Butcher, Roger Zelazny, George RR Martin, Ernest Hemingway, Isaac Asimov, Andre Norton, Michael Moorcock and others I can’t think of atm.
George RR Martin, Michael Crichton, Kenneth Oppel, Thomas Sowell, Christine Golden, Richard A Knaak (dodges tomatoes), Mario Vargas Llosa, and Armando Vallares.
I have a lot. JRR Tolkien, Michael Crichton, James Rollins, Tom Clancy, George RR Martin, John Scalizi, and there are probably others. The bottom line is I love to read.
Maybe not my absolute favorite, but I enjoy Haruki Murakami quite a lot.
Robert Jordan. Terry Brooks.
That means Sam Altman will be the owner of your work.
Mine has changed over my lifetime.
My first big one was Tolkien then C.S. Lewis
Since then I have gone through phases. Stephen King, Christi Golden, Charles Dickens
Soooo many…
LE Modessit’s
JN Chaney
Audrey Faye (specifically Ghost Mountain Shifters series)
Glynn Stewart
Bianca D’Arc
Mercedes Lackey
Laurel K Hamilton
and so many more…
Don’t really have one, however my favorite series are the Harry Potter series and the Left Behind series.
Could just stick with a classic and say Tolkien. But, I also like:
- Margret Weis
- Mercedes Lackey
- R.A. Salvatore
Richard Knaak, Christie Golden, Reki Kawahara, Edgar Allan Poe, and at times Mark Twain.
HP Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Garth Ennis, Cormac McCarthy and a couple more.
Clive Barker has made a name for himself with his dark and creative works, like The Hellbound Heart, the inspiration behind Hellraiser, and Books of Blood, a collection of short stories filled with vivid horror and masterful storytelling.
Orson Scott Card, Neil Gaiman, Andy Weir
I would say the author I have read the most and enjoy the most is Shakespeare
I love Macbeth. The Merchant of Venice. Twelfth Night. A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
The novel Candide by Voltaire is probably my favorite singular work. I read it in High School for fun, wasn’t even assigned it. It was an interesting story, and touched on alot of philosophical issues.
I wasn’t a big fan of the Tolken franchise until I read The Silmarillion and The Unfinished Tales. The tale of Hurin and his Children is pretty rough. I think those stories are much better than LotR or The Hobbit, but they are not as well known.
As a long time comic collector, Stan Lee hands down.
Silmarillion at the very least is not a easy read, So much information and not a big story line. They might also be a bit diffrent as I think in Tolkens time they had been unfinished and his son finished them after Tolkens death. I will try to unfinished tales for sure. Recently been on a James Patterson kick with the Alex Cross series and Linda Castillo with her series with the main character being former Amish and now a small town police chief, To say the least very entertaining.
