Who is the strongest mage ALIVE in Azeroth?

Khadgar? Jaina? Anyone else?

And where does their power comes from? Study? I’ve never saw Jaina reading a book :dracthyr_shrug:

Not Khadgar, not anymore anyway.

Also wow, undead can cast spells too, bigot.

In their line of work, power comes by study followed by practice, practice, and more practice. Khadgar has the edge there, since he’s been at it longer.

Wouldn’t there be a peak and then a fall off (like most people past their 30s)?

Think its still that one guardian since they bouce back and forth in lore on if he is alive or not medivh?

Can’t be bothered to google it. I think last recon he was considered dead but story wise he is still around from the bfa novels…

Granted in those novels illidan’s jailer ran a nelf rebellion out to destroy the horde and alliance. I know a lot of its been retconned.

You’d think that but we’re still waiting on the dinosaurs to die.

That’s true, and maybe they are enhanced by ‘magic powers’ i.e Greymane keeping his strength long past thanks to Worgen curse and such.

It’s possible but spite is a powerful fuel too.

The answer I keep finding is Queen Azshara.

If mages and scientists are reasonable analogs, then … maybe.

If a scientist hasn’t made a major breakthrough by 35, they’re probably not going to. But if they have, they’re liable to be functioning and producing at a very high level into their sixties.

Yeah, that cut scene of Jaina spending eight hours in her library, reading a bunch of old books and highlighting important passages didn’t test market well.

Uh oh, someone knows about the attractive reptile elves.

Thank goodness they’re hotter.

Some personal bias here (sis is kinda big-deal scientist) I think the potential does need to be shown early, even without a necessarily breakthrough which may come later.

It’s Jaina. While both have the Human Potential boost, Jaina’s has been shown more and has bent the lore much more. Got some of Aegwynn’s powers, levitated ships, made 10,000 year old+ Thalyssra, who is a girl that breathes magic for all these years cower in fear.

So, Jaina, then followed by Khadgar. Then maybe a third Human or fourth.

If Medivh is still alive somehow, then it could be him.

That is, if we count villains, Azshara is far more powerful. In BFA she even blocked Jaina from weaving magic.

Probably some ogre mage.

In Warcraft III the Archmage Antonidas, was Jaina’s teacher and mentor. He was the leader of the Kirin Tor.

As for the mages, there is quite a long list however only a few are major NPC characters in WoW. Most of them have a very limited amount of story time in the Lore. It would be difficult to say which ones are the most powerful.

Guys, I try to follow the lore I swear, but my memory is terrible and when the plots keep changing I find even harder to remember things.

Is this in BFA? or…I don’t think I have ever seem this cutscene.

Is he even alive? I don’t think even Blizzard remembers him. If he is I don’t think they’ll ever give him attention, which is a shame cause he is involved in a very good part of the lore.

Yeah, counting the villains too! If Azshara can do that to Jaina I think she really is the most powerful one :dracthyr_uwahh_animated:
