Who is the genius who thought it would be a good idea to make upgrading or getting legendaries up to how much players want to charge in the AH? With this toon upgrades are anywhere between 900,000-to 1.2million! On my alt’s realm they don’t even have the upgrades available.
Why would Blizzard do this, it was bad enough to have grind Torghast, but now I gotta somehow find a way to grind 800,000 gold and my alt. can’t even buy the upgrades cause they are not even available in the AH.
I understand your frustration with legendary prices. However, do note that a portion of the community wanted professions to feel more meaningful and provide more income. Crafted legendaries absolutely address the feedback. Players talked and the developers listened!
I get it, but at the cost of people like me not being able to upgrade cause people in my realm want to be ridiculous and charge 800,000 to 1.2k million gold.
The same one who made sure that no matter the ilvl , the power was the same , thus upgrading it , is just more stats and not a big deal since the supplies will just keep rising the the price , going down !
I know i will use a 225/235(they are crazy cheap atm) until the price go down , pretty low , since i do like switching the leggo around and using 3 different ones .
I understand. Unfortunately, exorbitant prices are a player-created problem and I’m not sure what the devs can do with it at this stage. The developers gave legendary crafters an inch and some of the crafters decided to take a mile. The market usually balances itself out as more supply becomes available and demand lowers, so the only advice I have at this time is to try to wait things out for a bit to see what happens.
I sympathize, because I can’t afford to upgrade my legendary either, but I can’t really blame people who had to make 45 useless items per slot (15 rank 1, 15 rank 2, 15 rank 3) just to learn rank 4, with the attendant unavoidable cost of vendor mats per piece, and who are now having to farm up ridiculous numbers of Korthite crystals - which are RNG drops, even when they’re quest rewards - just to make a single upgrade item.
If Blizzard hadn’t made the crafting requirements so ridiculous, more people would have done the grind and competition would have kept the price lower.
Yeah I will hold out, but with that said when legendaries first came out in SL the prices were not that bad, I recall a 235 costing 100,000 so the price has gone up 8 to 12 times since.
Anying, keep in mind that these items are base items for legendaries. By its defintion, legendaries should be considerably harder to craft, whether that requires more time, items, gold or a combination of any of them. If legendaries were as simple to make as typical purples, then they wouldn’t be quite worthy of the “legendary” title.
Because Blizzard, the seller of in game gold, gets a cut when someone wants to upgrade and needs the gold.
When you have to ask why something happens in this game, always follow the money and you’ll see all the questionable decisions in the game ends up with Blizzard somehow gaining some financial benefit from it.
Could have given crafters some unique transmog pieces and it would have been just as nice without it being necessary to have. At least I feel like it is necessary.
I suggest we try to remain positive in any situation, and I must also state that I disagree with your assertion. For example, what extra financial gain would Blizzard derive from Fallen Charger not being daily loot-locked for weeks, then when a loot-lock is implemented to deter “group finder grinding”, the drop rate is tripled? I suppose different things could be cherrypicked on either side to make a statement, but I wholeheartedly feel that Ion and the devs are designing and crafting a game that puts the players first. With that said, I do respect your views as well as we all have the right to our own
I chose leatherworking for my hunter so that I could craft him his own legendary.
its 190. but. whatever. im fine with that.
You know anyone wearing high ilvl spent an absolutly un fathomable amount of time farming and created it himself, has a buddy who made it for him, who also spent an absolutly ludacris- off - the -wall - amount of time farming. OR the item was bought through and through. meaning the materials were not farmed by him or her self, they were bought in mass quantaties, farmed by someone else.
I chose to give up on shadowlands now for a bit. I kinda treat it as my “hyperbolic chamber” of sorts. somewhere I can go to level up my power, I spend most of my time in Azeroth. And out here. Out in the open world. the difference between ilvl 190 and 230 isin’t that big of a deal on 1 item slot. the “main gain” from the legendary is still the power it gives you, not the stats. you can pickup a profession right now, grind it for a small amount of time and come out with a 190ilvl, perfectly good legendary.
But those prices. Im a crafter, im a farmer, and thats the bottom line. you have no idea the ridiculous ammount of material and time required to craft top ilvl gear. I agree 800k is a bit much. Looks like someone wants to make their one big sell and quit, ive done this a few times but reality is thats the way things are.
Poor guy who has to sell 1 item for 800k to make up for losses kinda sucks though.
After my eyes opened to the true nature of this expansions crafting system I gave up.
I took my things, moved all of my items from oribos bank back to an undisclosed location in time and space and i’ve been happily farming BfA materials for the past week, happy as a lark, making the same amount of gold now than I was back when the expansion BfA was fresh.
I hope this changes you’re outlook on things. It was a pleasure typing this message, hope you all find a way through these hard times.

At the start of SL it costs blacksmiths 150-200k in mats to upgrade 1 pattern to rank 4 so week 1 I seen rank 4 on the AH for around 110k to try to make up the gold. 2-3 weeks in prices drop a lot because every blacksmith was putting 15 of each rank up on the AH flooding the market and very quickly you could not make your gold back.
Now not every BS is making rank 5-6, you need 40 crystals that can not be farmed and you will prob only see 4-5 drop a day so “most” legos being craft now are coming from crystals being bought off AH for a crazy amount. Also world first race is happening so everything even flasks and pots are sky high in price atm because mythic runners will pay it.
Ion and the devs are NOT designing a game that puts the player first, that point is not even debatable. Publicly traded companies ALWAYS puts investors first. The Blizzard that put player first died the moment it merged with ATVI, as is the fate with all companies that allow that route (see Bioware).
If a feature is put in that looks like it benefits the player, I promise you there is always a underlying financial motive.
I get everything you say yes it is time consuming and difficult, but why even make it that players can craft it in the first place. Why not use valor or some other currency to purchase it, don’t make it up to your fellow player.
It’s hilarious that you guys are blaming Blizzard for something they didn’t do. This is a player created issue, not a Blizzard created issue. This is like being mad at Blizzard because you got a flat tire.
