FF14 actually stirred emotions in a way that WoW doesn’t. Some of the fights actually felt personal, and you enjoyed grinding your enemy into dust!! WoW feels good if you struggle on a fight and finally get it down, but there is no emotional investment towards the npc in general.

garrosh by far beat any of them.

30 seconds into the FF14 video and as soon as that dude opens his mouth with his shrill voice my ears are bleeding.

Jailer is a crappy villain but between those two videos, WoW’s was way better simply because it wasn’t a 4 minute weab monologue before anything happens.

Aizen from Bleach.

That is all.

He had absolutely no depth at all. lol

“I like to fight stuff. Something something frenemies.”

Pretty sure the Jailer had more than that, and he didn’t have much himself. Not defending the guy, but even the average WoW villains usually has more than that.

Not even a comparison, modern takes on villains by blizz are absolute garbage.

Lei Shen was a proper bad@zz, Old gul dan, old xavius, old kel’thuzad, and of course… the lich king. Hell even the dark wizard in darkshire was a better villain than the entirety of shadowlands.

The best villain is very clearly Barry from the Bee movie, guy almost caused the extinction of every plant cuz he was mad about people using honey.

The writing in XIV is leagues better than WoW. It’s not even up for debate.
The WoW writing team seems more concerned about Twitter likes from the 100-200 people that orbit the devs rather than writing an interesting story. The complete lack of conflict in Dragonflight seems to reinforce this. Maybe they should return to their roots, and things may change then.

Caligula wins, 2 Millenia in a row.

Honorable mention goes to Henry Fonda’s character from Once Upon a Time in the West.

You do not know his lore and backstory do you?

Yeah, and it’s mediocre. He was fan service.

Asdruebael Vect from Warhammer 40k. Cause he is older then a god. Was a child prodigy. During all the years of his life only his sheer overwhelming intellect and mastery of intrigue keeps him at the top of the food chain.

I don’t even have a Twitter account but I’m a big Sylvanas fan so I liked this story. She made a great villain in part because she had motives that while wrongly motivated were well intended.
