Who is speedy?

I know druid’s are probably the real speed demons in WoW. But which one really is the speed demon in mobility and all around travelling?

Aside from druid, monks and DHs. Hunter probably gets the honorable mention.

edit: Forgot to mention rogue (especially outlaw, grappling hook is no joke) and shaman.

Druid at the top, but they only have brief dash in combat. DH, Hunter, and Mage have decent boosts they can use in combat. Rogue has a short burst similar to a druid.

Long range travelling is Mage all the way.

Shamans are kinda speedy as well, don’t forget them

There are a few variables with each class having certain advantages.

Mage, DH, Hunter all have some low CD dashes that let them move through instances or from pack to pack quickly.

Druid has travel form which lets them interact with things while mounted to make it easier to complete some quest objectives.

I personally would say mage is the speediest since they have both a low cd blink to get around on the ground and their expansive portal network to get around the world quickly.

If there are targets at regular intervals then warriors dragon charge + 2 charge + 3 heroic leap + intervene will beat every one .

In a BG setting

Nothing beats a monk in on demand speed.

Teleport, flying serpent kick, two rolls and tigers lust back to back can put you across a BG map.

Druids have the most sustained speed in the game.

Shamans have two ways to increase ghost wolf speed, a speed totem, a sprint and feral lunge which is a great tool to skip distances.

Havoc would be next as they have the meta leap, two dashes and the vengeful retreat.

Druids win every time.

I am currently moving at 251.2% movement speed in SL and 220.8% in the old world, and that is in stealth so I don’t have to worry about my iLVL as much.

And if I get in combat than go into travel form with my speed gear I get an additional 10% or so on top of that.

Check out the hunter talents.

There are a few that add speed, and if you can get yourself some +speed gear (along with those talents), they can really zoom.

It’s a tough call between

In Dragonflight it’s going to be DH, monk, evoker, and shaman.

Demon Hunter

I love how nobody mentions the Warrior with 6 heroic leaps

Druid is clearly the winner in the open world. But I’ve found WW Monk to be the quicker in old raids for mog/mount/achievements.

You forgot the single most mobile in combat class in the game: Paladin.

But Hezz, I hear you cry out, Paladins are very slow with only one short speed boost!

Two words.

Bubble.
Hearth.

No other class in the game can suddenly travel across time and space in the middle of combat!

A lot of people saying mage, but just want to add that we come with the caveat that Blink fails quite frequently. If there’s a border between the ground and a bridge, border between tunnel and outdoor, or even so much as a grain of sand in your path blink will stop right short of the “obstacle” and you’ll have moved 3 millimeters and burned your cooldown. It’s been like this since the game launched in 2004 and probably still won’t be fixed when the last server shuts down.

Druid, monk, and DH don’t have to deal with this at all. The only other class that faces similar problems is warrior with Heroic Leap, but at least they get the advantage of a “Path not found” error instead of a burned cooldown.

You can make some Niche arguments for lots of things, like a warrior with the jumping legendary running around with 5x leap charges… when he uses those he’s basically the most mobile SOB in the whole game.

But it’s VERY easy to make a speed set for cat now and it’s really hard to quantify speed and mobility, and how they vary, and which scenarios which form of mobility is better in.

A warlock can probably get places a druid can’t without exploits. A DH can faceroll any of the ZM jumping puzzles due to sheer mobility, but any player with the Venthyr port can do the same every Cooldown.

If we’re talking accessibility to older content.
An engineer can portal places others cant, as can druids with dreamwalk or their beacon. Arguably these portals are sometimes better options than Mage teleports (IE I’m heading to Tempest Keep so Area52 port > Shattrath port)

Speed is also different than Z axis travel, which are places where Warlock is probably king, even though they aren’t a fast class.

So let’s look at something specific like running up the two sides during the Nzoth carapace: You can cheese it by shifting back and forth with druids and never getting snared because you can drop snares. I would assume paladin can do that too, even though it’s one of the game’s wheelchair classes. So in some cases just being able to drop a snare or root is better mobility.

Don’t forget blink failing to 0.001 degrees of incline.
