Who Is going to run classic Addon Free?

Just wondering if I was the only one going addon free for classic.

  1. Is it worth running some ?
  2. Will it ruin the whole classic Vanilla feeling ?
  3. When the game first dropped was there addons from the jump ?

Sorry I came in when Cataclysm came out, so this really is all new to me.

Vanilla had mods. Its ridiculous to run classic without mods out of some purist ideal. Modding is a big part of what made WoW so great.

I plan to run add-on free. I respect that others will use them but I feel they detract from the experience.

What mods do you think we be a must have for leveling and raiding ?

It would probably be good to at least have a threat meter.

Make sure you break out your 1024/768 resolution CRT monitor as well. Don’t wanna miss that Vanilla feeling. :wink:

You can do mostly fine without add-ons.

However Add-ons made the game better imo, and if you plan to raid, or especially pvp, you are hindering yourself and the people you play with by not using them.

I used more addons back in Vanilla than I do in retail. They were not necessary, technically, but incredibly handy. Minimally dps meters and threat meters (even back then). I would recommend getting an addon to help with questing, something for buffing/dispelling. These were the basics most used to use.

Addons will absolutely obliterate the vanilla experience.

Despite the fact that addons have been a part of WoW since beta.

I will be going Addon free I never really used them other than just the AH… but in Vanilla wow I really don’t need to play or rely on them. just my style I guess

I’ll likely run DBM and gatherer. Some others that might be desirable would be something that will help me vendor junk quicker (bag space is important!) and maybe Decursive, if it still exists.

Yea I do every time I played wow, I don’t see why I would need a crutch to play a game… that being said hey if it makes it enjoyable for you use them

Ive been playing wow since 2005 never used macros or addons so ive lasted… 14 years? Scrub amount of time i know

I’ll have a UI/Frames Mod, a Caster Bar Mod (accounts for latency, its a DPS Boost) and Energy (Rogue/Druid) Mod.

Thats really it, you dont need anything more than that.
