Who here isn't going to pay blizzard exorbitant $70 D4 price?

I probably wouldn’t play it even if it were free…

Not paying as well. D3 is disappointing. Expectation is low and we get a big price hike. On top of that, graphics and sound definitely not good enough for $70 game.

I’ll be waiting this time around, too. Fool me once…

I honestly feel like its being shoved down our throats but it might be me just being jaded with the current AAA games market.

I hope my gold is spent well but I dont know.

I mean I remember when gas was $1/gallon too; doesn’t mean I get to ignore reality

Well… When there is price hike, expectations comes with it too.

Example. Other companies does 2-4 CDs worth of music for a $30-40 game. Blizzard does only 1.

Yeah but a $10 increase comes with some expectations which is hard for me to have high expectation for a AAA game to succeed.

Like I would say Hogwarts is probably worth its price after hearing positive reviews where as Forspoken is not.

Why does it come with expectations? Eggs cost more; the eggs stay the same. Did you want to get a baker’s dozen instead now?

You raise price, I raise expectations. You have to show why price hike is needed.

Eggs price hike? I buy from someone else.

100% and I’m one of those “go on sale” people mostly because I’m cheap not critical

I just think we should accept certain things cost more. Wages up, costs up, prices go up. It’s not a huge deal, all things considered.

if you count for inflation, price of new games is probably be close to $100. it’s kinda weird that it was $60ish for so long.

what we get for the money should be the concern

I remember in the 90’s some console cartridge games for Sega and Nintendo being $59-69, maybe even more. Was it Phantasy Star that had an outrageous price of $79?

I remember (my mom) paying $49.99 for Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition for Sega Genesis and on top of that since nobody wanted to have to toggle between kicks and punches, shelling out another $29.99 or so for each controller.

So ended up costing $110+ tax to even play it properly.

Keep in mind this was 1992 dollars. $49.99 in 1992 dollars had the same buying power as $106 2023 dollars.

Wow. That is a ripoff. Sega Genesis games and parts here are a lot cheaper.

Street Fighter still better off with a joystick anyway. Arcades is the way to go…

I can’t speak on the first Phantasy Star but 2 was $80. Virtua Racer was $90 I believe.

I don’t think bootlicker is the right term here. $60 has been the norm since the early 00’s. It makes sense that the price starts to move up. It’s about an hour’s pay for me, and I’m getting a decent hour per dollar if it’s a decent game.

All of that said, if it’s heavy on microtransactions, battle passes, or other secondary charges after paying $70 for a game, screw it, I’m out.

I didn’t. I just converted into tokens and bought two copies that way.
