Does anyone here have gout? I am just curious because I am a WoW player who has gout and want to know if there are any fellow gout people out there.
I have a family member that plays WoW and has gout. He does just find as long as he takes his medicine.
Life sucks man. Like you can’t eat meat, can’t drink soda, can’t eat nothing good. On top of that the annoying medications and yearly blood work to check your blood uric acid level. Thankfully I don’t take medications as my gout happened once like 6 years ago and has not happened ever since but what I do get is flares every now and then if I eat the wrong foods. I have not been prescribed any medication for my gout case strangely.
Nothing for flare ups?
Nah nothing, it usually settles down by itself most of the time, lasts a few hours tops. For example I had a sausage and cheese in a muffin from Mcdonalds I think a few months back, I got a nasty flare after, lasted a few hours then bam it vanished. My entire foot turned red, it was scary appearance lol.
Huh it’s a form of arthritis. I didn’t know that.
Man your doctor is mean. My family member does not take something daily but he has something for flare ups.
It sucks because there was a time they said it was the rich man’s disease and only fat old obese people got it, but nope, when I got it, I was young in my prime in my 20s, slim, 140ibs. All bs that only obese fat old people get it. All bs.
It’s probably genetic, like every thing else.
My doctor only gave me NSAID’s when my first attack happened years ago. It was painful, I felt handicapped and disabled, like standing on top of a porcupine barefoot was the feeling. For flares, I didn’t get anything because they lasted so short, most people online told me that it’s diet related and as long as I don’t eat high purine stuff, I’ll never get flares or gout.
No one in my family has gout, it can’t be genetic, I have no family history.
Nope but i have Hashimotos instead not haveing a fun time that is for sure but i can still eat steaks yeah!
Sorry to hear that, it sucks living with these types of health problems.
Not gaut but degenerative discs in my spinal cord and a screwed up pancreas where I take pain meds otherwise I’m debilitated ;_;
I have never had gout, since I eat a very non gout diet (not really on purpose, it is just the way I eat.)
Diet. Eating a diet rich in meat and seafood and drinking beverages sweetened with fruit sugar (fructose) increase levels of uric acid, which increase your risk of gout. Alcohol consumption, especially of beer, also increases the risk of gout.
Nope, except beer ![]()
Obesity. If you’re overweight, your body produces more uric acid and your kidneys have a more difficult time eliminating uric acid.
Nope.
Medical conditions. Certain diseases and conditions increase your risk of gout. These include untreated high blood pressure and chronic conditions such as diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and heart and kidney diseases.
Nope.
Certain medications. The use of thiazide diuretics — commonly used to treat hypertension — and low-dose aspirin also can increase uric acid levels. So can the use of anti-rejection drugs prescribed for people who have undergone an organ transplant.
Nope. Sometimes I take two ibuprofen a day, because I’m 53 and have an active job.
Family history of gout. If other members of your family have had gout, you’re more likely to develop the disease.
Nope, no one as far as I know.
So yeah, they are saying you are most disposed to getting it if a family history.

I tend to drink a lot of coffee in what for me is my “morning.” I wonder if that helps?
every once in a while i’ll get a bad soreness in that joint from my big toe to the rest of my foot
i’m not sure if it’s a result of anything but i’ve got a weird habit of curling my toes and cracking the knuckles all the time, so i don’t know if it’s that instead
i eat a lot of meat so it might lend itself to it, but i haven’t taken the time to determine if it’s any correlation
Unfortunately, in my case, I meet all the all marks. Diet full of gout causing things, overweight, etc. I’m slowly weening myself off the foods that cause, which hurts because it was my main go-to diet. Sadly, when I was diagnosed, I was unemployed. Once I get myself back on my feet financially, visiting a doctor is one of the first tasks I have. For now, it’s just watching what I eat and taking some arthritis pain medication if need be.
