Who has actually been positive about an expansion?

“Elves? On the Horde?

Wtf Death Knights and a zombie apocalypse, is this game for children now? What a dumb class that I probably would have played when I was 12

Wtf Deathwing is so dumb, what a dumb name I would have liked when I was 12. Flying in Azeroth? Horrible

Wtf Pandas, how dumb. A monk class? Am I 7??? Kung fu panda?

Wtf back to Outlands… really??

Demon Hunters?? Do they think I’m still 12?? Trying to profit off of Illidan again and Burning Crusade nostalgia???

Battle for Azeroth? Sylvanas Waifu and no real class changes. Nobody asked for Tauren Moose.

Classic…? Nostalgia tf I did this long ago

Shadowlands looks so bad!!!111!!eleven1! Stupid covenants, no new class, no class changes”

Meanwhile in reality…

Blood Elves are the number one played Horde race

Death Knights are beloved and totally accepted. The zombie apocalypse is totally revered and Arthas is many people’s favorite lore character my a large margin.

“OMG I LOVEEEE FLYING DONT TAKE IT AWAY I CANT IMAGINE GOING BACK TO RUNNING IN ORG”

Pandaria is hailed as an incredible expansion and land, Monks are a go-to healer for many (noobs) and everyone says revert to mop.

WoD had a fantastic leveling experience, and actual good gameplay despite the revisionist history of the massive prune (that actually happened in Legion). It didn’t have much content, but the content it had was good.

Everyone and their brother plays a demon hunter and loves them. Legion is (for some reason) loved by the community. The lore and aesthetic everyone liked. (People seem to like the darker aesthetic, WotLK, Legion, and not the happier ones like Cata or BfA)

People LOVVEEEEE Allied Races despite debate over which side Blood Elves should be on. Everyone wants Vulpera.

Do you people try your best to be negative about everything? :joy::joy::joy: In b4 “negative post calling us negative”, it’s the truth. Most expansions had features you really liked. Why the end of the world talk every two years? Be excited or quit. “Ohhh I will, just waiting on [insert excuse here as to why you haven’t quit yet]” :joy::joy:

Shadowlands looks killer :+1:

I loved WotLK, MoP and Legion when they were current, even though I hated what they did to Warlocks.

I hated Cata, WoD and BfA.

Positive potential is there, but it must be earned.

I adored Pandaland and thought the entire thing was amazing.

Why are you subbed if you hate BfA lol? Honest question not inflammatory

Addiction, probably lol

I’m staying positive the theme looks good, but also because how very early it is…the negativity some have stems from the garbo that was WoD and partially Bfa and that is understandable. I try to look at it if some are complaining its because they want their game to succeed and do well, which is nice, but also subjective to each persons own experience.

Expansions seem to run hot and cold. I don’t need to say much more than that, that poor horse has been beaten enough.

But if the pattern holds I’m cautiously optimistic for Shadowlands.

It can’t get here fast enough for me.

I think a lot depends on what you want out of an expansion.

BFA dungeons have been challenging and fun and I have mostly enjoyed the raids.

That’s my jam, so BFA has been fine.

You get what seems like inconsistency of opinions when you incorrectly think of the player base as monolithic.

There are millions of players with millions of different opinions. Some will be complaints. This is where they post their complaints. But it’s different people with different reasons each time.

You would say that about any expansion that introduced battle pets.

I started 2 weeks before BC launched and I was excited for it. I was excited for wrath. I was meh on cata and MoP but ended up enjoying them both. I had ZERO hype for WoD especially with the whole flying fiasco but friends actually kept me subbed then.

I was super excited for Legion and it ended up being a fun expansion with tons of class flavor.

I was not excited for BFA because the horde/alliance conflict ALWAYS ends with both factions going after the bigger threat. I’ve disliked BFA more than any expansion. I’m here because flying has made it better and I still enjoy farming old content for mogs.

All that being said, I think SL looks great. I wish they’d change their spiteful stance on flying but if they actually manage to make good content no flying won’t feel like such a punishment.

To me, Shadowlands appears to be very fun. I’m really looking forward to it. I was hoping for the death expansion thematics, which is definitely what I got. Plus, the vampire covenant is something I’m super excited for, but that’s just a personal thing. People can scream “omg now they’re catering to stupid edgy vampire/twilight(not real vampires in this trash series) fans” all they want, but I kinda shrug it off. We all have our preferences.

But yeah. There’s been need of customization lately, and I for one am over the moon that they’re finally adding more of it. Again, elitists can cry “BUT MAH RAID TIER!!” all they want. It’s nice that they’re finally looking at other aspects of the game now too.

That tower thing seems pretty fun and I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes. I’m not a min/maxer obsessed with making my life miserable, so I’m picking covenant based on flavor for all of my toons. It’s almost like there’s always been a meta in this game anyway, cookie-cutter builds, etc. etc. This literally is no different. :woman_shrugging:

The expansion won’t appeal to everyone, though, which is understandable. I wasn’t excited for BfA (it didn’t make sense to me) and it stooped way lower than my expectations (I sincerely can’t stand the war campaign nonsense that was shoved in our faces the entire expansion. The zones were amazing. The war campaign, incompetent ‘warchief’, and whining orcs? Not so much). I guess in the end we’ll have to see.

I try to maintain a positive stance regardless because it is a game and as bad as the story maybe at any given time it beats being at work.

I have to agree with you on this. I have liked every expansion but BFA. And the upcoming corrupted forging, along with essences and azerite armour is what ruined this one for me. One failed feature after another, I hope it does not get any worse. BFA will go down as the worst expac ever for me.

That was cataclysm

Every current expansion is hated and then beloved as soon as the next one drops. People just wanna whine because they lack personality online.

You say that with such confidence.

Grinds are part of the MMO genre. I accept and for the most part enjoy that aspect of wow. The BFA grinds have not been and are not enjoyable. I’d grind for 6-12 months for the right cosmetic reward(s) but the endless AP and essence grind just plain sucks. It’s the illusion of content.

I was positive about Legion.

Had my concerns about BfA, and they’ve all been true.

Not looking forward to SL because I don’t care about the afterlife. We die and rot in the ground, that’s the afterlife.
