Who else lost gold in their guild bank due to WoW merge

On realm Cairne. My realm was merged with another one a few days ago. I was last off and first on in my family guild. I know because only my family are in my guild, my kids. When I got on after the merge I noticed that the guild was short almost 400,000 gold. I looked at the bank gold listing on who put in and take out gold and the first listing was for 19 days before the merge. I lost 19 days of putting gold in the guild.

I opened a ticket and got back a lame automated response telling me that I need to look up the issue myself to fix my issue. My account was not hacked. My guild was not hacked. No one in the guild was hacked. But I was directed to look up the subject on hacked accounts.

I have seen that a few others have had the same issue of gold missing from the guild and that WoW has not answered their ticket. Some have lost well over a million gold. If you have had this issue please post here. I hope that if enough people yell out that WoW will decide to fix the issue.

Yeah they do that a lot.

I’d try Twitter. I can’t say your response won’t be automated there either though.

Thank you for posting this. This should serve as a warning to other guilds on servers that are about to be merged as well.

Sounds like most of the customer service reps have no idea about what caused it and are thus holding off on responding to the tickets till they get some feedback from the higher ups. Frustrating for now, but should be solved eventually.

Keep putting in tickets man, ignore the auto response and keep trying.

Also, it will get fixed, so don’t worry too much.

Wonder how these mergers handle duplicate guild names, could that be a probable cause?

Well, that’s disturbing.

Pls update this OP as things hopefully resolve correctly.

That is if they have any customer service reps left. Bob has to get his bonus and all.

That sounds like an awful scenario, I hope you get it resolved!

They weren’t mergers so names guild or player wouldn’t be effected.

It’s like all of us who “lost” gold from the AH merger. I freaked for 5 days sending tickets 2-3x a day. I did finally get all my earned AH gold back…i think. :eyes:

Escalate the ticket until you get someone that knows what they’re doing, you could also try making a post about it on the WoW reddit or twitter to grab their attention.

They’re not mergers, they’re connections.

So Server A and Server B don’t become Server C, they become Server AB that can be accessed from either A or B.

Same end result, far less technical headaches from Blizzards part.

I would never have imagined this to happen but will be mindful of it in future.

I received an actual (Not automated) response today. Essentially was told I was not in fact missing 1.3M gold, and that either it was on a character I deleted back in June or that my addons were calculating my deposits incorrectly. Both are complete BS as:

  1. I have never deleted a character from my main realm (Drak’Thul)
  2. I view my guild balance multiple times every single day. The WOW Guild Bank Balance. It is now 1.3M gold less than it was on the morning of 8/4/2020

I have since re-opened the ticket that was twice closed as “Solved / Resolved” both times without resolution. The first auto-mated response I can see was a time buyer for them. The second response which appeared to be a regular person was a bit more infuriating as it seems they put almost zero effort into looking into the issue and made assumptions / guess as to what the issue was. Hopefully 3rd times a charm?

Huh how does deleting a character remove gold from a Guild bank and I didn’t know there were addons that changed the guild bank log tab.

just say you still have a problem. Blizz seems to think automated responses are acceptable.

Was told it was an addon problem. I do not use addons. Also how does an addon physically remove gold from a guild bank?

Yikes! So they’re making a poor excuse of blaming it on addons without even conducting a proper investigation on what could have caused so many people to lose gold at the same time.
I haven’t even seen a single news update from Blizzard acknowledging that this has been a major issue. Fingers crossed.

I mentioned it on my post, but Blizz responded to me and said it was an issue they’re sending to QA/Dev, but seeing that everyone else has gotten a response in the negative I wonder if they were just placating me.

Any one still have this problem? Gold from my Guild Bank still missing after couple months
