I’m completely torn on what to play, been trying things out all week and now it’s right around the corner.
I like the idea of a shaman from a gameplay perspective, melee range and heals plus all the utility but it’s just not clicking for me. Especially in regards to any lore.
Got the monk of course. Fun to play as, hits hard, all the specs are great. It’s just missing one thing…
The raw unbridled power of a warrior. No explanation needed. Except the arms is kind of a bummer to play as.
I was in the same boat as you are. I have plenty of choices and have been gearing them up.
I just settled on Shadow priest after some testing on the raid dummy. I know people like to sim/parse/calculate their chars with programs and the like. But I wanted to see what char could i actually do the rotation correctly and what felt good.
I tested it with all my DPS classes that are on my list. And the shocking thing I found out was that Shadow Priest was the most consistent rotation…for me. Just barely edging out Elemental Shaman.
What really surprised me is how bad I was at Fire Mage even though I would consider that spec “more fun” in terms of pressing buttons. But the timing just didn’t work out in my head at all. And i was doing consistently less damage. Something I was already kinda feeling was the case. And i just got them all geared out and Transmog’ed how i wanted.
Out of the choices you mentioned I think Monk would be the one for you. Its the one you had the most fun with. Trust your gut on what your feeling. Don’t over think it!
You’re not alone. I was torn torn between WW, Elemental, Havoc, Ret and Arcane. I enjoy playing them all equally. I struggled to pick, but then realized that Season 1 will take almost a month to come out, and by then I’ll probably have them all leveled to 80.
It’ll be easier to get a better feel of a spec and pick a main in TWW with all the hero talents available, than it is in pre-patch… unless you played the beta.
I used to love playing Protection Warrior or Restoration Shaman. When I came back I tried Restoration Shaman, but some toxic group play in dungeons made me switch to Enhancement Shaman, my 1st DPS class ever. I kind of got the itch to try to Restoration Shaman again but my gear is all set for Enhancement.
No class anxiety but perhaps some class “envy” if that’s even the right way to describe it lol? Had the opportunity to level up some alts during prepatch and it was a lot of fun to check out other classes and spec’s I probably would never have otherwise.
At the end of the day, I am going to stick with my main (Paladin) like always. Close second would be enhancement shaman, and fury warrior for me. Those both feel great to play.
Not anxiety, but I’m kinda torn between two classes. Blood DK and prot warr.
I’ve always enjoyed sword ‘n board gameplay. I greatly enjoyed making my prot warr my main in S3 of DF. However, there were some drawbacks that limited it during certain key weeks. I can’t lie when I say that I would have issues pugging into high keys as prot warr. Even tho I had a 2.7k io rating, some weeks required utilities that I couldn’t provide. I would also, at times, have people tell me in the keys that they felt uneasy having prot warr as tank (because it was considered “undesirable” in the tier list). Personally, I don’t care about meta or tier rankings, but others put a lot of weight in it. Regardless, I had fun and I was happy to show others that prot warr was a very viable tank.
Then I created a blood DK in remix because I’ve always been curious about them. Had a blast really, so much so that I used my xpac boost for one in S4. The utility it brings is amazing. Someone butt pulled a mob in a key? No problem, I can grip them. I feel that it also can get aggro a bit easier as well. The slow for DnD is also a welcome addition. I did have a bit of a learning curve as I went from preventing dmg to eating dmg for sustain.
I did KSM in S4 on my BDK. It was fun and the animation for DS is great. I do miss charging around to mobs on my prot warr tho. I’m going to try out my BDK in S1 of TWW. Tbh, I’m feeling a bit burned out on my prot warr because of the sheer amount of keys I ran with it in S3 of DF. I’ll still get my prot ware to lvl cap just in case I change my mind lol
I promised myself that I would play specs that I don’t normally play. I always play the same specs every time. I am horrible at DPS specs. i will still level and gear my main but I’m going to work on playing dps more and see if I can finally get the hang of it after so many years and that gives me anxiety too haha
The deciding factor might be the hero talents. For some classes they might be ok but are mostly passive. For other classes they can make a big difference and are iconic.
On beta I enjoyed ww monk hero talents and arms warrior hero talents.
One big and flashy with a nuke cd.
The other strong and consistent with a passive thats not in your face.
Some might not like the idea of having hero talents that dont have showoff visuals. But flashy can get old fast. So its great to have the choice and for both choices to be great to use.
