Whitemane is Dead, Where Do I Go?

My wife and I haven’t played WoW since Cataclysm. We just started up and tried regular WoW and can’t get over what a steaming pile of crap it is with everything dying in 1-2 hits and the game pushing you to rush to the endgame and the convoluted mess of 20 years of content. We were going to quit and decided to give Classic Cataclysm a try. We like it much better, except we made our characters on Whitemane, one of the three US-West servers that we had the option of.

After playing 32 levels, I realized I’ve only actually seen 2 other players in the open world this whole time. I figured everybody must just be high level and in those areas except then I realized that I can’t find basic supplies on the auction house. Also, nobody is buying anything I list. And Stormwind and Ironforge are also empty.

Should I just quit or is there another joinable server that’s actually active?

Whitemane is largely a Horde majority (almost Horde only) server in Cata Classic, since around P2 TBC Classic. Likewise with Faerlina. Benediction is rather the opposite, with almost only Alliance, while Grobbulus remains relatively well balanced among the PVP servers.

At least in so far as we can gauge these things from the data presented on IronForge.Pro which uses raid logs that have been uploaded to Warcraftlogs by players.

It really depends on what you’re going for. You may wish to try a /who 85 and reach out to some folks on your server. There’s likely a small, tight-knit community with a couple of active raiding guilds. If you enjoy small community server feel with loads of world PVP, then that might just be for you.

If you don’t like the numbers stacked heavily against you, and would prefer to have a lot more people to play with, then definitely check out a different server!

i think atiesh has a high alliance population and is west coast

i play horde and live west coast but play on mankrik fwiw

and i wouldnt worry if you have to reroll a new toon since leveling speed is pretty fast

Thanks. I guess that explains it.

Def doesn’t hurt to create a junk toon on a new server, log in, and do some /who “level ranges” or something. And ask in LFG. And if you really want to make the run run to a main city and see how busy the AH is, as well as how many people around period.

A few different ways to sniff around to hopefully either find people on your current server, or maybe find a better one for yourself!

Adding, Pagle is def an Alliance lopsided server, even if the Horde pop as grown somewhat since Cata.

If you make it to endgame alliance whitemane you will find more in TB. They can run small hunting parties there at least on weekends lol.

Horde whitemane is decently lively. But not in the leveing part. They are spread out and/or using RDF alot. And its not just to play wow as a lobby game.

Its to get gear. For some a key to gold accumulation…is not blowing it on stupid crap. An 800 gold green at level 30 buy that is useless by level 35 is not the wisest call lol. Buying stacks of ore or skins to make the gear ain’t cheap either lol.

So you rdf it, get gear there or ride out the fact most dungeons in that range aren’t that bad. Only gnome stands out. Because of hunters and locks who don’t recall their pets.

I had one of those this weekend playing with a low level rogue. turn around and there it was. All the dungeon missed by jump skips, coming right for us.

I just popped vanish when the other 4 died lol. A good time to do that 2nd load of laundry really lol.

Come back to Era whitemane cluster.

Any of those servers will work - Anathema, Arcanite Reaper, Bigglesworth, Blaumeux, Fairbanks, Kurinnaxx, Rattlegore, Smolderweb, Thunderfury, and Whitemane

Game is dead af right now. Blizz stopped supporting Cata outside of keeping servers turned on. The main focus at Blizz seems to be retail followed by SoD for WoW. Classic is just their net for catching subs.

I would advise you to google “WoW classic server population”. A large number of servers have been depopulated and abandoned with only a handful viable choices and most of those are leaning to one side heavily.

Since we’re already here, which server is better for a new horde player, Mankrik or Faerlina?

Both have lively populations.

What I do when down to 2 servers is make test chars on both.

Kill an hour or so each seeing how the chats are on each. and work out a future buy list. and see whose AH is better overall.

Make it a few items. to get an overall future cost. and see whose you like more for your wallet tastes.

One of the mian reasons I lost strong interest in grobb and went more whitemane was not pvp related. It was the AH.

It was grobb’s ah. when I make a few 1000 gold on whitemane…I get more for my money with its nicer prices.

I still dabble there once in while. BUt whitemane is my horde focus. The AH was a main reason why.

I considered Whitemane for the timezone, but according to that ironforge site it now has a lower raiding population than Atiesh which I didnt think was possible

best look at server balance we have.

h ttps://ironforge.pro/population/classic/?locale=US

Though there is unlikely to be a large amount of people out levelling on any server, most prob spam rdf

Long season has many done raid if a. Goal for them.

Chats you will see people are still down for pvp options though. If only to hammer some points for end of season conversion.

I know I’ve been on alt touch up. I See others leveling too. Hell I 85 the be s. Priest soon maybe from 80. Alts kill time in content drought, and we have had a long one.

Pagle my man

for Horde? dont listen to this chicken

Aye. Horde, I play mankirk. My bad. Thought he was a dorf

Try Pagle. Much larger crowd & economy.

A surprising number of people are playing HC too.

Come play Classic Era (vanilla wow)

Join the Whitmane server, its PACKED full…

Tho if you don’t have time for or do not like world PVP then select the Mankirk server (PVE server)

Whitemane’s world PVP on Vanilla Era is savage.

Come visit the community if you like.
