How can I make the whisper window remains in the general chat window.
this is a a bit stupid to set it as default for everyone… …

I don’t fully grasp what you’re asking cause I’m about to pass out.
But just download WIM. It’s a good addon to manage chat windows.
Right click your general tab, select New Window, then label it Whispers.
You can also get the addon WIM, which works really good too, if you don’t mind having an addon.
Make sure, when you create your new window, that you then go into the new tab and checkmark all that you want to appear in that tab - if you only want whispers make certain that is checked, and nothing else.

They are talking about whispers creating a new tab instead of staying inline. I’m not at home to be able to tell you, but I believe it’s under Interface.

in the past, if you whisper someone, your chat would be shown in the general chat. but now it opens up a new window if you whisper someone, that means you cannot read the general chat if you are whispering someone. It happened after i came back in pre patch. But someone has already answered my question. Thanks.

There’s a setting… somewhere, can’t remember exactly… where you can chose to only split whispers out to a new window, only have them go to existing windows set to receive them, or both.
It got set to new window only for me last week in one the fixes. Never even knew that was option.

Under the Options menu, there should be a drop-down with three options. In-line, New Window, or both.

Escape. Interface. Social. Whispers - In line. It’s the option in the bottom left. It’ll be set to New Window.

I’ve done that, but whispers still pop up in a new window and do not appear in the window that I’ve created specifically for them, despite having whispers selected for it.
Odd. I’ve lived by tabs for yrs, esp w/how trade/2 is. Everything I speak in is in tabs, and I have no issues at all.
Perhaps try checking out your chat in interface? Could be a deeper issue.

Something happened with settings last week and it got auto set to new window only for some reason.
Never seen the behavior before so it kind of looked like a new feature you couldn’t opt out of.

Interesting. Must have happened to ppl randomly. Will make a note in case this hits me.

I mean if you’re used to using multiple chat tabs I’m sure it’s not jarring, but if you don’t separate windows and manage tabs all the sudden having whispers populate in another tab would throw you off if you didn’t know it was gonna start doing it.
That’s all it is.
If I had to guess there was bug in some update script and if you logged on during a certain time period you got hit with it.
Mk…I was explaining how creating tabs work, in my original comment to the OP if you read that, and how it isn’t something new…my understanding of the OP was a bit different than what others were stating.
However if you read further down in the thread, it’s something new for ppl that I wasn’t aware of and I stated as such…so “I mean” yeah it can be and I admitted such sooo…/shrug
