While we have flying mounts that can only hold 2

I look at this and wonder…“Could this ever be something we have?..”

Never know, flying mounts capable of that may one day be home in WoW.

While not exactly what’s in the picture, the Hivemind mount can actually hold up to five people, and gets a speed bonus for each extra person riding it. The only issue is that those eligible to ride are solely those you’ve completed the end bit of it with. If you’ve already done it, you can rerun the final step to reattune the mount with other people, in case you find yourself in a new guild or did it through LFG initially, etc.

I prefer having my mounts come from good games. Final Fantasy 4 was hot street trash.

I would love a gryphon that I can carry someone on…

I’m gonna have to put the stamp of agreement on this one.

man that pissed me off when i saw how it actually worked. Imagine being giddy that some crazy jellyfish brain thing can hold more than one person but… only the people who’ve done the attunement, and to this day not a damn other mount reaches that number of riders. Dose anyone even USE this thing?

the most amount of riders i can think of atm is the mammoth mount carrying atleast three? ‘woo, big numbers now! don’t get too exciting bliz!’ Now that i mentioned mammoths I do recall during wrath alpha they did have a plan of having one big boy carry quite alot of folks but never getting any farther than modeling it and going ‘meh no way’.

Gah, SO much this. I was hoping it would AT LEAST still count as a 1 person mount, but nope. You can reattune it to guildies, but still, pain and a half if folks don’t have a lens. lol

It works in FF14 because there’s no world PvP in FF14. There’s literally no reason why Square Enix can’t give people mounts like the Lunar Whale that carries a ton of people around everywhere, because there’s absolutely no detriment to the game to do so.

Imagine a mount capable of carrying a ton of people like that in WoW, where one person can divebomb Orgrimmar with a full raid of people out of the blue, or in War Mode to harass and deny anyone the ability to just get their questing done. The whole raid wouldn’t need to worry about being in combat: just the one person who has the mount who can pop it open and let their team just vanish away out of the blue while everyone else has to wait for combat to end before they can pursue.

You wouldn’t think mounts capable of carrying multiple people would be something to “balance” things around, but hey, there you go.

ahh the pvp aspect, forgot all about that BUT there’s a wee problem with that. whale or no whale… you can still get a bunch of your guildies to still do the same thing with just there one player mounts and mass-dive bomb people out of the blue.

I remember doing something to that effect afew times in the past and I remember the BfA pre-patch event in darkshore where I got my arcane mage and harassed alot of hordies doing the same to ally’s and just macro’ing dismount/slowfall with arcane barrage people out of the sky. it was massively broken, you’d think with the broken height limit with that event you’d avoid that, nope! id match them and if they tried to fly off then there’s slow to use. good times.

as for the ‘owner flying off unscathed’ that… no? its been awhile and I don’t know if WoW guards are still a joke or not but you’d think they’d be bonked and netted. If not then… so? the blue, lamb and cath get invaded all the time its become kind of passe, least to me. Damn i had something else to point out but these anti-sneeze pills got me in a daze.

So the point you’re making is “People do that anyways so who cares?”

pretty much. only way to avoid that on normal servers is… just don’t flag? or program some npc’s to be not attackable which bliz has done in the past. (Not like people don’t grief them anyways with large mounts to cover them up so you got to make a damn macro to find and click on the bastard. thank god some other npc’s just straight up dismount you if your at a certain distance from them)

Only other way to not get griefed by high levels is… just don’t play on a pvp server. Trust me when I say ‘if there is a way around something to piss people off then people WILL find it and do it.’

sorry for double posting, i know i can just edit my last post but i feel this needs abit of a proper addendum. After having a chat with afew ff14 friends and refreshing myself there’s afeeeewww problems ive ran into.

1: like WoW, ff14 has flight. you don’t go particularly high or very far from where your supposed to go and if your in a specific area not programed for ground collision you straight up don’t dismount. Unlike wow in which you drop like a rock high in the air (or parachute if your a passenger) you still drop like a rock! just still mounted, still need to fully be on the ground to get off.

2: I had to shake my head around like a snow globe to remember but WoW’s raid’s are roughly 40 people? (hey, ive always been a casual scum and even rp get together’s i just don’t look at it since it just gets in the way of what i’m doing which is rp.) while from what ive gathered for ff14’s raids being 24. you still got nearly twenty odd people to come to rofflestomp your local lowbie encampment.

so with that said, if ff14 ever decided out of the blue ‘hey, time to world pvp!’ this thing would… still be impractical. I haven’t touched whatever bg’s/arenas ff14 has but something tells me the GCD is going to make me cry, i know there’s limit breaks but ff14’s movement control’s and server side hits are… something. That whale aint going to do diddly to contribute.

‘but what if its in wow?!?’ yeah nothing is really going to change there from what ive said before. ‘Oh no… its a 8 seater mount! what ever shall we do-’ mount up, find areas to perch on, cc to hell, melt down the driver, everyone spills out like spaghetti out of some ones pocket.

That’s pretty much all i have to say about it I guess, would of been summed up as ff14 mechanics do not = to wow mechanics and ‘an 8 seater mount in wow would be pretty cool’
