FFXIV is doing an event with FFXV developers releasing a Four Person Flying Mount for free in game. It’s a freaking sexy car from the bros in FFXV. It’s a free event with no paywall behind it.
Meanwhile in WoW you can get a 2 person mount through RAF and last time it was offered was during the paywall of the Blizzcon tickets.
Blizzard needs more fun events that can bring people in to do these things. I would mention the recent puzzle we got but that mount locks the people you can actually include in it so it’s not worth mentioning.
Edit: By Free I mean there is no paywall. You still have to quest and spend a currency called MGP
RE the Hivemind mount: The mount would be great if it didnt have such strict restrictions. The second I heard that you can only include a very small and select group of people into it I decided it was not worth it.
I would just use my sandstorm drake. Made in game and easily purchased off the auction house. Never team up with anyone anymore so don’t need a 4 person mount.
Not fully up to date on the mounts currently in this expansion beyond the faction rewards and the WFs. You may be right. There are no new multi ones springing to mind, except maybe that hive mind thing. Not interested in it so I am not fully informed on its particulars.
I can’t help what realm you play on. Seems the game for you is Final Fantasy. Doesn’t matter what anyone says here, you’ll just come up with another excuse to hate the game. Safe Travels.
Over 500 mounts in the game. Quite a few multiple passenger.
I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to have multiseater mounts or not. The Hivemind was exciting until we found out the restrictions (I can’t forgive Blizz on this one, they know how to take an exciting mount and ruin it).
If it’s a big deal for you, then yeah, maybe Final Fantasy is more of a game for you? I’m happy with all the mounts I have and am always excited to see more. 8.2 has loads of awesome ones that easily beat a car for me.
Just because I point something out does not mean I hate the game. Not sure where you got that from. However it does mean that the competitors are doing something better than Blizzard and that is not healthy for the game long term. If anything coming here to point it out shows that I care and want Blizzard to do better…
I am enjoying both games. Just something that should be pointed out hoping that things would change for the better.
Just because another game is doing something different does not mean it’s better nor does it mean it’s detrimental to the health of the game. We DO have a lot of multiseater mounts. Not free, but they’re in the game, including a flying mount that you can make yourself if there are none on the auction house.
Certain games do things better than other games. To me, no game has even remotely touched dungeons or raids as well as Blizzard. But certain mechanics in other games are vastly superior to WoW and that’s okay. Different things work for different games.
If Blizzard were to make another multi-seated mount of any class it would surely be not what people would want.
a) Have restrictions.
b) Get hit by every mob in the game.
c) Have a hugh aggro.
d) Wouldn’t fly or ww and maybe not able to jump high.
e) Be so ugly even you wouldn’t want to ride it.
Yea dungeons and raids are cool in wow but thats not everything in a game. We have some multiseater mounts and the easiest ones to get are paywalled. None have been introduced in this expansion that are obtainable. And how many of those multi seater mounts also give flying? Its a small thing to worry about but it is something that comes in topics of conversation whenever there is someone new and low level that someone wants to help out in guild.
I mean, we did have one added this expansion with just a stupid gimmick. I’ll give you that one, only Blizzard could make the Hivemind the most disappointing thing to get in the game.
There are only those two flying mounts in game, but the other one is perfectly and easily obtainable. If you’re helping someone new, that covers it easily. It just requires you to pick up Alchemy and spend some gold. So regardless of opinions, it IS available, even if it’s not from this expansion. Which I argue doesn’t matter because World of Warcraft is the entire game. Not just end game. While Blizz fails epically at keeping old zones relevant, this is one way that they have.
Perhaps it is, but its not fun when its restricted in so many ways as you have mentioned. The Hivemind event was great. It brought alot of people back to work together to get it. Entire days of farming for it. It was a group activity completely separated from rep/item level grinding. It brought a bunch of fun as an event. And events like that make this game feel alive. However once everyone heard it has all these restrictions the reward felt half hearted for all the time committed. WoW can use more events like that in the LIVE game with less restrictions.
First you’ll have to get the recipe, don’t know if can buy it now,but before you’ll have to do archeology for it,which with me took 2 yrs of bad rng to get.
I feel like this is a possibility a lot of people often miss when it comes to talking about nice features from another game. Too often it’s, ‘well, why don’t you go play that!’.
… No. We’re mentioning these things because we love WoW, and we’d like to see things like this in our favorite game. In fact, I feel like something Blizzard was historically good at was taking key features from their competition and making them way better. They don’t do this so much anymore.
You and I agree here 100%. The Hivemind was such a cool idea and I wish Blizzard hadn’t mucked it up. And I do agree that we need more in game events like that. The secret mounts are some of the most fun I’ve ever had when it comes to mount farming.
Despite that, I still don’t think the multi-seater is that big of a deal but to each their own. I’m a mount collector, so I will never scoff at getting more unique mounts. But I will argue at the idea that Blizzard is doing something wrong by not having more.
I hear you. while other games, lots of them, understand people play them to have fun, relax and enjoy cool stuff, Blizz creates things with grinds and strings so it feels like a second job not a game and then they top it off by removing/taking things away that players did a grind for. Quite sad.
