Which zone had the best story?

Shoutout to Booty Bay in STV. The pirate storyline there was fantastic. But I think the winner honestly goes to Suramar. I know it was long and painful for some. But the story there was super rich.

the best overall zone story? or do smaller storylines count?

because Runas in Azsuna was probably one of the best storylines in the game.
Pre-cata duskwood also had some amazing storytelling.

Suramar had a great story, but since it was a story driven end-game zone, I think it’s in a different league than your regular ol’ zone.

The one that surprised me the most during the leveling process is Dread Waste from MoP. I loved waking up the different Klaxxi.

Duskwood was the OG.

Stitches murdering newbies all the time just took it to the next level.

If it wasn’t Stitches chasing you down the road it was Mor’ladim pouncing on you while you were tying to kill a ghoul.

Duskwood hands down. I still have my rewards from those quests.

I don’t remember if they changed the Duskwood main story after cata. I mean the original Stalivan questline was super dark not sure if it survived the purge.

As far as questlines and story meshing together across zones while allowing each zone to keep its independence, I don’t think there’s been anything that beats the pre-cata human starting area quadro: Elwynn, Westfall, Duskwood, and Redridge.

It’s funny because those are also some of the oldest zones of the game, with Elwynn and Westfall prototypes dating back to 2000. Crazy that they have yet to be beat in that regard.

I’m still currently getting Loremaster, but the current zone I finished Blade’s Edge Mountain, had two hubs that I enjoyed: Mok’nathol Village and Thunderlord Stronghold.

As I understand it though, Outlands questing is not a fan favorite :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I enjoyed the Ogri’la quests particularly mounting up and doing bombing runs on the Fel forges while the cannons tried to shoot you down.

Blade’s Edge is probably a lot better if you’re starting with flying from the get-go, but holy cow it was rough with just a ground mount, particularly in early TBC when graveyard selection didn’t take Z-axis into account at all which meant dying would send your ghost to a graveyard on a different level 3 tunnels and 2 overpasses away… literally 15m+ death runs. I haven’t leveled there since then lol.

I really like Zangarmarsh and Nagrand questing in Outland though.

Pre Cata mulgore (especially for Tauren Shamans) was really friggin awesome, you’d do your quests to speak to and earn the favor of the spirits, help fight off some quilboar, do a service to your people and purify the water wells the Venture Co was poisoning, deal with poachers and some dwarven hoodlums mining and upsetting spirits, good place all around.

Nagrand? :flushed:

Thanks Blizzard for 310% Flying and Flight Masters.

Pre-cata mulgore was very peaceful… the sort of zone to create throwaway alts just to have an excuse to be in. Just remember to send some bags for your main, I remember that place dropping a LOT of vendor trash that would overflow your alt’s bags almost right away.

If I’m nearby with a Paladin, I’ll often swoop down and torment him with some Turn Evil. I don’t even hold grudges that long IRL.

On release I’ll say the Worgen start zone was pretty good and did a great story recap of why they were in the alliance, same with the Pandaren start too (and getting to deck Varian was great, totes give him props as a guy for asking you to punch him and bein’ super chill chad bro about you knocking him on his rear)

Nope, I’m running on a Horde toon rn. I’m going through the Loremaster gauntlet again with Aërlowynn for the Alliance zones/lore.

Idk, I really enjoy questing :man_shrugging:…I realize that is a rare statement lol
