There’s a new system, which I haven’t tested and know nothing about. Anyone know which ones are going to be the best?
Best relative to what measure? Profitability? Utility in keys, raid, pvp? Convenience? Best at making gear for your class?
Best for Evoker, for just making cool stuff. I don’t care about profits. I just want cool professions that make cool things for Dracthyr.

Okay, thanks for clarifying! Evokers wear mail, so leatherworking (despite its name) will have lots of options for things you can make for yourself. There are also fun gadgets you can make with engineering like bombs, battle rez, and toys! But if you’re going with leatherworking, it will be a good idea to also have a skinner to get the materials.

Ok, but what about Jewelcrafting and mining?
I feel like skinning is super easy, and I wonder if Letherworking is even going to have cool stuff I can’t just buy off the AH.
Do we get bonuses based on professions? Bind on pickup items. I dunno these things.

In general, the new profession stuff is somewhat self-contained. Meaning that the profession things you can make (that are personal to you and can’t be sold on the Auction House) usually just help you get better at that specific profession. But you could theoretically have zero professions and play at a high level, if you wanted. So if you’re okay with buying stuff, you can pretty much pick whatever you want!

I like having professions, though, because I’m OCD and have to have them. So, I need the best. Maybe I’ll just do Skinning and Leatherworking, but if there is some ubercool thing in some other profession, I’ma be pissed, lol.

I mean, I feel you. At the same time, I don’t know what you would consider to be uber cool. I didn’t find anything to be really crazy but that’s just me.
You could go on the Public Test Realm (PTR) and test out the professions, though!

Yeah, I got another week. I’m going to test them if I can. Just looking for a starting point.
If they revamped the crafting, is gathering revamped, too? Because, if gathering is boring I could just skip it for other stuff and just buy overpriced mats from the AH.
Gathering is still boring (in my opinion) and the mats are region-wide now so they won’t be overpriced for more than a month or two.

Completely subjective answer with nothing to back it up but engineering and enchanting because goggles and shoulder effect things
After watching both vids, I’ve decided to def pick up Jewelcrafting, because it’s got the BOP Dragon Aspect Pets and other cool stuff.
I’m still thinking over what to do for my second profession.
Im going mining amand jewelcrafting. Should be pretty fun
I’m sticking with Skinning and LW.
Hopefully I can craft some good armor for myself, also I love skinning because leather always sells and it’s easy to get.
After watching both videos, my dracthyr will probably have Jewelcrafting and Inscription, for the pets and the upgrades. I think someone said the pets can be caged, but who knows if Blizz will change that? JC will still be useful for gold income due to the gems.
