I’m trying to plan my twinking and was wondering if anyone knows when the npc’s to freeze xp gains for 10g, will be available?
edit: by when, I mean which version of WoW had that feature.

While there is no xp freeze, you don’t gain xp in bgs anyways. Just get your twink items and stop all pve.

Turning off XP gains isn’t going to be a thing in Classic. I do remember a guide years ago about farming Wailing Caverns that described where you could stand and be eligible for loot without gaining xp though. Might want to google the old twink guides.

I definitely used to get XP in BG’s. I leveled most of my characters that way. I just dont remember if XP in BG’s was added later? Maybe it was added at same time XP freeze was? IDK tbh.

Battleground experience has arrived !
Players who do not wish to gain experience through PvP can visit Behsten in Stormwind or Slahtz in Orgrimmar - both located near the Battlemasters in either city - and turn off all experience accumulation for the cost of 10 Gold.
The worst patch ever.

Xp in BG’s wasn’t added til Wrath. You could turn in Marks in Vanilla for XP but it wasn’t an inherent part of the BG itself.
Why do you think it was the worst? I could break out of the monotony of questing and level through battlegrounds. Sounds pretty nice to me.

Because it essentially killed twinking. Twinks turned off XP, which in turn placed them in XP-off brackets. Those brackets did not have nearly enough players to provide constant bg’s, with some bracket queues essentially never popping.

It was already bad enough with Heirlooms. It was the worst patch ever because it lead to casual take over of the game and never reversed course. The next stop was Pet Battles, Garrisons, and Selfie cameras. And yes it killed twinking.

Well, believe it or not, twinking is pretty fun for some people. It’s nice to see how far you can push a characters abilities.
I’m especially excited to make another lvl 1 twink with a fiery weapon enchanted fish MH, for Goldshire duels.

Twinking in vanilla and burning crusade was pretty grindy but rewarding. Iv’e twinked on and off through the ages of wow, even recently via free to play with all the epic quest upgrades. In vanilla your gonna have to carefully plan out every aspect of your twink and even choose between certain items based on wether or not your gonna have enough exp to do the quests and not ding 20. Also plan on discovering areas well ahead of time so you don’t accidently gain a level via exploration.
Twinking may or may not be ruined again this time if the forum people get their way and bg’s are limited to only the server they are on, because then the only active bracket will be level 60 on most servers. We’ll need cross realm bg’s in order for twinking to become active again pre-end game. And tbh many will probably quit if it ends up being same server only, probably myself included. My only real motivation for reaching max level and earning gold in classic is to prepaire for later on when bg’s are introduced and to have enough gold to make my twinks.
Yeah, I’m having a lot of fun now, but that is my ultimate goal and if I can’t twink again old school style… ‘‘insert spongebob aight im out’’ meme.

Even before 3.2, they put level restrictions on a lot of the no minimum level stamina enchants (BC legs, Sapphiron shoulders) that made twinking fun/viable.
That sounds like a win to me. Still was a win. Twinks ruined PvP for fun while leveling.

Well, I guess it makes sense. Kinda like those 60s who have fun camping people in Hillsbrad Foothills. To each is their own, I guess.

Like you, I only care about leveling to 60, to fund my new characters for BG’s. For me, BG’s where the only reason to play. I couldnt care less about raids. Too time consuming. Love dungeon runs. Raids, not so much.
I did forget about a lot of what you mentioned, like the cross realm bg’s. I dont remember there being xp on/off bg’s though, not that you’re wrong, I just dont remember that. I could’ve sworn though, that I as I was leveling up in BG’s, I would always run into twinks in every bracket, while my xp was on. Maybe they changed that later.
