Which Starting Zone To Level In?

I plan on leveling a night elf but id rather level in Elwynn Forest. Is it gonna be hard to get there as a lvl 1, or is it just as easy as on retail?

Also curious if others plan on doing the same?

You have to run from Menethil harbor to Ironforge then take the tram.

That area is all 20+ mobs. Probably going to be a lot of corpse runs, but you gotta do what you gotta do

Ive run from Dun Morogh to the elevator at Thunderbluff as a lvl 1 night elf in a race my guild did, so thats nothing lol

Something to consider…I don’t believe Night Elves can do the 1-5 quests in Northshire Valley in Vanilla. I remember making that trek and my memory tells me that there were no quests for me when I finally got there.

THIS is why i need alpha privileges Blizzard, gotta test the important stuff…:upside_down_face:

…if worst comes to worst, ill have to hangout with the tree-huggers for 10 levels or so

Keep in mind your level 10 class quest is in your native start area.

Taking my orc to mulgore and you can’t stop me! Might go troll…he’s still going to Mulgore. Lol.

Indeed Mulgore is the best lvling zone in the game.

My characters will stay in their native starting zones.

If I were doing an elf I’d stay in Teldrassil. The zone feels more magical than human area.

I vividly remember my lowbie run to Itonforge on my little Nelf hunter in Vanilla, felt like a true epic adventure in those levels.

Can’t wait to do it again.

Love my Nelfs and their culture, but dwarf culture is where it’s at. Yes, I am a female Night Elf who identifies as a dwarf. Even bought a ram mount back then.

Definitely going back to those dwarf quests too.

There’s a neat little trick to avoid this.

You can swim south from Menethil and you will technically zone into Westfall fairly quick even though you are no where near Westfall.

Drown yourself and then res at Sentinel Hill.

I think it’s important to finish the character’s native starting areas to get the reputation.

I’ve done a reverse run as a human at level 8 and all the night elf starter quests were available to me. Even the first starter quest though it was grey to me.

Lucky you’re not trying that in retail.

It would be safer, but you’d be level 14 by time time you got there just from discovering new areas.

I will be doing the opposite (and did before), it’s not bad. I just put on some music or something and do the needful. Watch for when the graveyard is closer than your corpse and rez there. Also, and this should be obvious, but get as far from your body as you can before you rez. Even if you die immediately, you made some progress. With so many people playing at launch you may luck out and the mobs in Wetlands will be dead or engaged when you run through. Pick up the flight paths along the way, especially Menethil.

Everyone should experience the run from wetlands to ironforge at least once.

With a NE, I level to about 12, then I take the boat, and swim the short cut, kill myself in the waters outside Dun Morough, Rez in the dwarf/gnome start zone, then hoof it to IF, then deep run tram it to SW.

Here’s a fast time lapse video. You only die once from suicide if you’re over level 10 because no mobs on the route can kill you.

Was this in Vanilla? Maybe it was changed in later Vanilla. Maybe it was only one way (nelfs trying to start in Northshire), but I’m like 90% sure that my night elf couldn’t do the 1-5 human quests. Because I made the run, and there were no quests and I debated on whether to grind mobs so I could start questing in Elwynn or just Hearth back to Night elf starting area. I think I ended up deleting and just did 1-5 in Shadowglen then made the journey again.

This is probably another thing private servers got wrong, or as I said…maybe it was changed in later Vanilla.
