Hey guys long time mage player, this specific char is rather newish though. I’m having an issue choosing and sticking to a spec ><. I’d love any and all input between Arcane and Frost, I just as well enjoy both, and have tested just a tad bit with some raid finder situations open word and dungeons. (i do like raiding a lot so keep this in mind i suppose)
I like both to be quite honest, frost has a lot going on nowadays which is cool cuz i remember it going through so many different identity crisis (lets not remember i think it was Multi-strike?). I Like Arcane’s aesthetic though as well and general feel obviously it’ll take some time to properly learn arcane, because i’ve been both a fire and frost mage most of the time.
So i guess my question is, which spec feels rewarding to play and keep up with content damage wise.
P.S. I didn’t do too bad with arcane in those tests, wasn’t too far off from my frost damage. Thx in advance <3

I love playing frost the most because I love the mixture of damage and control. Arcane is fun but has to juggle too many short cooldowns.

This i definitely gotta agree with, Frost does feel like you’ve got a good amount of control, and it felt pretty fluid

In my experience with a low ilvl arcane did way more damage.
You stack damage modifier cooldowns during burst windows so it felt less gear dependant that fire and frost.
Arcane rotation is a little tough to get down at first, but once you know it it’s basically always the same.
You can evo before a pull, pop cooldowns, and pump 700k aoe dps almost instantly. I found with fire and frost it was a lot more ramp up focused.
I personally suck at fire and cant seem to break 300k dps ever with the spec.
Frost just feels janky to me.
Arcane all the way.
Frost has control but fire is harder to kill. At least that’s been my experience.
Between the two I’d say frost. Arcane is exceedingly complicated and isn’t overly rewarding either.
That said I’ve been playing fire since MoP. I am enjoying it a lot now with the high haste levels.
