Which spec is best?

I’m currently at 105 and I enjoy playing both bm and mm. I don’t really have a preference, but with damage, which class has the most damage? For things such as everyday leveling, pvp, etc. I can switch yes, but with Azerite armor I don’t want to change the slots and I want to have a main spec. Any preferences or highs-lows about the 2 specs? Thanks!

That depends on what you find more satisfying - burst damage or sustained damage?

MM has a huge burst but has long cast times which can be horrible on PvP and in some fights during raiding.

BM doesn’t face these problems due ti the high mobility but lacks the burst damage and I personally find the rotation boring.

So it’s a matter of preference really, I personally like MM due to the burst damage and somewhat of a difficult gameplay but to each their own.

Aaah, thanks. I don’t mind the cooldowns; I’ve played fire mage before and those cast times really get you, unless you get the combos.

Any MM talent suggestions or do mine look great? :smiley_cat:

Overall your talents are what they usually go. For leveling Barrage is good but for end game content including PvP you would want Double Tap at 90.

At the 100 tier Lock and Loaded works better on PvP but for dungeons and raiding you want Calling the Shots because you get to use Trueshot more often.

EDIT: Also, hope you enjoy hunter at 120 as I am! =D

Double tap actually doesn’t work for me. It doesn’t power anything for me. That’s why I chose the other talent, since Double Tap wasn’t working.

I am enjoying 105 hunter, so I am sure I will enjoy 120 hunter! Also, any suggestions on why Double Tap isn’t working?

Double tap has a few advantages, it makes you shoot Aimed Shot twice and it always cleaves but I suppose it isn’t of much use while leveling due to it’s high CD, but barrage sucks at max level, the damage is too low to be of any use.

Ohhh, I understand Double Tap now. Lol, I guess I didn’t before. Thanks for explaining! I’ll change my talent choice to that now. I find Barrage not useful, as it always draws more things to me then the boss. I guess it’s good for dungeoning, though. Thanks!

Yup! Double Tap is a little bit tricky to figure out, but Double Tap does two things.

One, if you use Double Tap with Aimed Shot, you essentially get a second, free Aimed Shot off the back of the first one. (Especially if you take the Careful Aim talent and open up the fight — and end the fight — with this combo. Hits like a truck. I’ve one-shotted rare spawn world quest mobs using this combo.)

Two, if you use Double Tap with Rapid Fire, you get double (2x) the number of shots/arrows out of Rapid Fire. Basically, two Rapid Fires in one.

I love using Double Tap with Trueshot — especially when casting it with Rapid Fire. Goodness, now that’s a lot of arrows. That combo also works nicely with Aimed Shot, because you’d be able to get up to four Aimed Shots and up to three Rapid Fires before the buff from Trueshot falls off. Now that is a huge burst.

Don’t take my talents as the gospel truth, though. I don’t raid due to a lack of time and I like experimenting with talents. I’ve discovered that the build I’m using serves ME very well in soloing, though.

The best spec was survival the last time i checked the logs. But i never played it so it’s based on logs only.

MM has higher burst than BM. But you get less mobility and survivability. Also it’s a less sustainable spec. When things go wrong and rng hits you the dps can go down the toilet. With BM it’s never that bad. I would say MM is more simple to play if you don’t have to move much. It’s kind of boring imo. But for some people having to constantly check Frenzy as a BM can be a pain in the *** i guess.

If you don’t want to play melee right now i would favor BM specially in Mythic+. With Rapid Reload you’ll have Aspect of the Wild up for pretty much every pack of mobs. DPS will be sustained which is what you want in mythic+.

But ultimately the correct answer is switch to another toon if you can. Hunter parse low right now and i simply can’t get invited in anything unless i’m queuing with a pocket tank or haler. And i don’t blame people i mean if i start a group i’ll invite pretty much anything but a stupid useless hunter.

I main SV, it is the most fun I have had playing this class. Even most of it’s detractors say that it is a fun Spec to play. Of the two you mentioned, I have more up time with MM, but I prefer the mobility of BM over it.
