Which sky stands out for you in a particular zone?

Nagrand for me. The combination of the stars, planets, clouds and purple beam work great together.

The Soul Storms that occur on occasions in Maldraxxus are pretty surreal.

Also the night sky is cool in my Garrison during WoD, even when falling to your death :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This is a good question. There are a lot of fantastic skyboxes in WoW, paired with different weather effects. I’d say my favorite combination would probably be blood rain in Tanaris.

I’m a big fan of the really out there ones like in sha areas, eredath (pretty sure the landmass counts as part of the skybox?), and ZM.

Old Icecrown, the sense of an uneasy storm rolling in and the vicious appearance of the clouds does it for me. Along with how the Sky paints the entire zone in a deathly looming blue.

Soul Storm in Maldraxxus brings me a sense of sadness, I can vividly imagine a character falling as Souls cascade from them. It’s also really pretty, otherwise hate Mald.

Revendreth is very beautiful no matter where you go, it’s Skybox stands out to me most likely the most beyond the other two.

I’m starting to fathom I have a recurring theme for liking zones that are dark, sad, or gothic…

There’s a lot that I like.

Old Nagrand, Tanaris & Howling Ford are some of my faves and screw it, I’ll say it, Bastion.

Such wasted potential

Elwynn Forest.

Nothing beats vanilla blob.

Also I would say that Ashenvale. The skies are the trees and further away are the pink blue clouds.

A recent fav is the night sky in one map in Sunbreak

The night version is just so hecking pretty

It looks even better in the actual game compared to this early footage. But the vids I wanted to show just have a tad too much swearing to make me nervous lol

In caverns of time, with all the planets , asteroid belts and galaxies floating around the chamber

Hellfire for me! The first time going through the Dark Portal and seeing the demons attacking and that gorgeous skybox.

Definitely a good one, I’d also add in Blade’s Edge Mountains. Something about the sky moving up slowly into the void, is decidedly unnerving. Argus’ skybox was amazing work with how they conveyed the rest of the world.

I still ooh and ahh at Ardenweald but to be completely honest, hard to top Broken Isles during 7.3.
