Which site do you trust more on class info? (Icy vein or wowhead)

Why I am asking this is because both sites have different takes on how to talent and gives different perspectives and both of which have differ in terms of opinion?

No matter if you prefer Wowhead or Icy Veins, the important thing is never using Noxxic, Mon.

I feel like wowhead generally writes guides for the average player and real world usage, whereas icy is based more on sims with flawless rotations or very high level of play.

But that’s just like, my opinion man.

icy veins is always out dated.

Maybe it changed, but I doubt it.

I have used a few sources but mainly Icy Veins is my go to.

I look at both and then do my own thing. I’m probably an example of what not to do btw :stuck_out_tongue:

This pretty much hits the nail on the head… icy veins builds are what you might call a vacuum build… they are theoretically the best when all conditions are met, but in actual practical play they simply don’t perform as advertised. That said… it still is worth reading their build guides for the ability breakdowns as they can often shed some light on interactions that WoWhead overlooks.

To me that sounds like a perfect example of what you SHOULD actually do…

I switch between the two because some class guides are better written depending on the site.

Class discords. For most of the specs that is where the writers for the WoWhead class guides are and/or are collecting their data from.

It depends on the class for me. I started leveling alts recently so I got a bit of a look at a lot of class guides, and depending on the writer the guides on Wowhead can be rather…poorly written. I always look at Wowhead first, but for a lot of those alts I ended up going to IV instead because the information ended up being presented better IMO.

Class discord cuz it lets me see theory crafter and mythic raiders thought processes for how things should be used and what not

I usually start with Icyveins, especially for alts.

But for my main and other more frequently played toons, I may use those guides as a starting point, but I’ll sim stuff my self and try things out on dummies and in game and make changes based on my own performance and preferences.

Also keep in mind that those guides do get updated as Blizzard makes changes, especially on major content patches and balancing patches, so I often double check the guides that I’m using the most to see if things have changed if I see impacts from game updates in the patch notes.

/moo :cow:

I use both but to be honest wowhead goes into more details.

As far as talents go especially for my spec both are close to being the same .

I know both the wowhead and icy veins MM theory crafters know eachother and have done a video podcat together in the past called Trueshot Lodge which is ran by the icy mm theorycrafter.

it was icy to start but now it is wowhead, a slow journey

Depends on class/spec.

It really seems to depend on the spec — the guides are apt to be written by different people. Probably best to compare them from each site… and also check out each particular class’s Discord server. That said, I prefer the formatting of Wowhead’s guides, personally. And it does often seem like Wowhead’s guides are updated more quickly after big patches… though, again, that may vary spec by spec.

I’ve heard this a lot, but I don’t understand why.

Can you elaborate? (Honest question).

ok now i have to ask, do arms warrs prefer icy or wowhead for class info?

Icyveins is for class guides, wowhead is for news.
