So, leveling a rogue. Been trying to get 1 of every class right? But I don’t nor have I ever been a rogue player. What spec do you guys recommend?
As a warlock player, the idea of Assassination sounds really really good. But also, Subtlety looks fun as heck.
sub for leveling, outlaw for end game

what rogue spec hates overpower the most?
I’ve never been good at any Rogue specs, but Subtlety has been my favorite for the last few expansions.
They all feel good while leveling. Had fun with all specs.
Assasination and outlaw are nice. Sub is also nice if you got heirloom gear.
Tried them all, but have the most fun with sub.
I think the best rogue spec is clearly windwalker. Like, come on. I should think it’s obvious!

Are you meaning this for long term? You might as well learn all three of them to be completely honest. Rogue specs have a tendency to fluctuate severely as more gear becomes available or changes are done, it’s a class where you can’t really afford to get invested in just one spec.
Assassination is a pretty simple and laid back spec that is pretty hard to screw up if you’re good at keeping track of timers. Subtlety is personally my favorite spec in the times I am playing WoW but it does have a pretty nasty fall off if you make a mistake with it due to how much of your damage is focused on dances, which if you fall behind you can sit in a drought for a long while.
All are fine when you get a feel for them but it boils down to how you like to play. Do you like to micromanage timers? Do you just like to hit things and micromanage very little? Do you like to set things up preemptively and have a playstyle revolving around making the planets align?
It is my favourite spec for rogue.
Unfortunately for PvE and especially m+, it is not good.
The current meta is outlaw > sub > assassin.
I recently leveled a rogue. Definitely recommend leveling as sub. The healing you get from being stealthed/shadow dancing came in clutch.
If you swap to outlaw while leveling, you’ll immediately feel the lack of self sustain.
I’m doing pretty well leveling as sub in BFA. Fun, also.
im a sub
wait what’s this post about again

Give em all a try.
Assassin is usually nice and slow, with periods where it can be better to pool energy than to be constantly spamming.
Outlaw is fast paced and with certain talents becomes a 12-14 button rotational dance dance revolution.
Sub is for ninja nerds and I’ve avoided it since it’s rework, so I can’t offer any help there. Too many dmg modifiers and stance dancing for my tastes.
Outlaw because you can shoot people in the face for dramatic effect.
