Which race gets the most play-time/lore-time?

Guesstimated Evaluation

Race Player Population* State of Lore (Estimated)
Blood Elf 20.23% Pending further development in “Midnight”.
Night Elf 9.50% Basically done now, with Amirdrassil. Hints at potentially reclaiming other felscarred lands in Kalimdor in the future, or even replanting Teldrassil.
Orc 9.46% Basically done now as of BFA. Might find more prominence via Shamanism as Azeroth comes into focus during World War Saga (particularly due to Thrall’s involvement).
Human 9.01% Never ending, since humans are inherently associated with pretty much every WoW story in some way.
Troll 6.65% Basically done, though Rhokan could marry Talanji at some point.
Tauren 5.47% Possibly pending further development in “The Last Titan” depending on how Tauren lore mixes into Azeroth’s origins with the sun and moons. Also pending marriage of Baine and Mayla Highmountain.
Undead 4.87% Basically done now since Lordereon is reclaimed.
Zandalari Troll 4.36% Basically done, though Talanji could marry Rhokan at some point.
Void Elf 3.62% Pending further development in “Midnight”.
Vulpera 3.27% Basically done/none.
Pandaren 2.94% Started and ended with Pandaria.
Draenei 2.64% Finished a major arc in Legion, likely pending further development in “Midnight” as the Void becomes more prominent.
Mag’har Orc 2.33% Basically done. Now tied heavily into Orc lore. Could see future resurgence if Yrell ever became a prominent character in the main universe.
Nightborne 2.19% Pending further development in “Midnight”, particularly due to Nightborne’s relationship with Blood Elves and Thalissra’s marraige to Lor’themar.
Goblin 2.06% Basically done/none, aside from not knowing the final fate of Gallywix just yet (unless I missed something?)
Worgen 1.95% Basically done now as of Gilneas’ reclamation. Not that it was good, but lore-wise Worgen’s story arc is “complete”.
Dwarf 1.78% Pending further development in “The Last Titan”, particularly because it’s a titan-forged race.
Highmountain Tauren 1.77% Pending marriage of Mayla Highmountain to Baine Bloodhoof. Otherwise, their lore is basically tied in to Tauren lore at this point.
Dark Iron Dwarf 1.60% Pending further development in “The Last Titan”.
Gnome 1.51% Aside from resolving the situation from Gnomergan, Gnomes and Mechagnome lore both completed each other with the Mechgnome allied race storylines.
Lightforged Draenei 1.19% Started and ended within a single patch in Legion, though possibly pending further development in “Midnight”… though it’s more likely to be treated as an extension of Draenei lore.
Kul Tiran 0.97% Started and ended in BFA.
Mechagnome 0.63% Started and ended in BFA.

I wasn’t expecting actual Data

I’m gonna read the hell outta this

EDIT

Sounds about right. Do Vulpera even have lore besides Vol’dun?

For winners I feel like Orcs should be above Draenei.

I think that data might be outdated, it doesn’t include Dracthyr at all.

Looking at heroic raid parses we have 1,065,679 in total, 34,876 augs, 20,983 prevokers, and 19,229 devokers so Evokers are probably about 75,088/1,065,679 => 7% of players.

I dont remember the last time the expansion story, at some point, didnt have a heavy night elf theme. WoD maybe?

With the resolution of Dragonflight, we might be able to finally shift focus away from Night Elves (as least for a good long while).

Last numbers I saw I think Dracthyr was around 1.3% or something.

Take that # with a grain of salt, I do recall Dracthyr being the least played however.

EDIT

https://www.dataforazeroth.com/stats/races

Horde Dracthyr at 1.5%
Alliance Dracthyr at 1.3%

Mechagnome still the lowest at 0.9% lol

Aye, Dracthyr are very much a “started and ended in one expansion” race as far as their lore is concerned. Much like the Pandaren.

Pandaren had a touch of lore during the monk campaign of legion, and again during BFA (Vale of Eternal Blossoms wasn’t chosen as an invasion point for the black empire just because it’s a mostly unused zone, there was a reason for it).
That being said it’s also hard to justify spending more time on Pandaren lore when they spent an entire expansion being crapped on for “lol kungfu panda” by the playerbase, despite having a pretty solid story, so we did that one to ourselves.
