Which is more fun in your opinion between mage and warlock?

I am interesed to read your opinions about which class is more fun and why.

  1. Class Fantasy
  2. Rotation and specs
  3. Good looking spells
  4. Look and feel
  5. Mogs

Warlocks, because I prefer summoner types over traditional glass cannons. Mages are just a bit too…plain, for me.

Destro and Demonology are real fun to use right now. You can do pretty well in PVE and PVP with both of those specs.

I can watch destro locks blow things up all day.

Uh… that’s kinda redundant, no?

Sadly irrelevant since armor sets are 1 per armor type now. Unless you plan to go back and farm old mogs, warlocks and mages will have the exact same appearance options going forward.

Warlock gets invited to raids more the lock closet is op it seems

What a nice answer, thank you.

Warlock, but with warlocks you never know wtf Blizz is going to do with your spec. You could be a god one day and a peasant the next.

1 - Regarding class fantasy, I always prefer a mage…to most things. But when comparing the Mage and Warlock order halls from Legion, Warlock has the far more interesting one. Though I may like mage conceptually, it actually doesn’t live up to my expectations…I get bored very fast.

2 - Rotation and specs, mixed feelings. I do not like lock destruction in BfA as much as I did in Legion. I do not like affliction as much as I do…in Classic. Demonology is not for me. But I can say all lock specs are fast paced and active. Maybe a little simpler than I prefer–I like lock as a class that requires a little extra thought.

Mage dps messes with me. Coming from heavy play as Legion DH, I get thrown off whenever I use arcane missiles (that’s just a personal thing…Fel Barrage used to be target-based with the same animation in green). Fire is fast paced and fun but makes me want to be on a melee character. Frost and arcane I am not so into. Not a fan of launching a directional orb or stacking debuffs (or w/e it is for arcane now) to boost damage. Not so into rogue’s combo points (despite this character) for the same reason.

  1. I give this one to warlock. Destruction and Demonology have beautiful spells. Destro green fire is the true winner. Mage looks comparatively very generic to me.

  2. When it comes to melee, if you like DK, you can get into warlock. If you like DH, you’ll more easily get into mage. How important is movement in combat/pvp to you? Warlock has always felt like more control to me (much like DK) while mage has more escapes/tricks up its sleeve (like a DH).

  3. Fortunately both look great. Mage wins this one for me. I love their Antorus set (or at least pieces of it). I love the wizard look mages get in general. You can make them both look identical, for the most part–but mage has always had uniquely beautiful xmog ever since vanilla.

Edit: idk why my formatting changed midway through this, but I’m not gonna figure out how to fix it lol

  1. Warlocks. They are more badass and intimidating
  2. I have to give this to Mage. FIre and frost rotation are very nice
  3. Mage for a small margin. Pyroblast looks amazing and so chaos bolt
  4. Warlock looks better in general and are more intimidating
  5. Warlocks have one of the best mogs in the game

Play both. Period. :sunglasses:

  1. Warlock but I love mages too
  2. Mage. Warlock rotations are super boring (I play affliction and destro)
  3. Warlock spells are the most beautiful
  4. Warlock
  5. Warlock

Lower item level locks get invited into rated battle grounds more frequently than mages since their Chaos bolt is a percentage based ability vs a strait X amount of damage like mages.

He is not talking about numbers, but fun factor instead

I’m just mentioning perks.

It seems mage is winning in fun factor. Keep sharing your opinions

I prefer Mages for class fantasy, but that’s just a personal quirk probably.

Affliction sucks but somehow pulls good DPS.
Demo is fun but a bit complicated.
Destro is fun and simple.

Arcane I do not enjoy.
Frost feels like a good balance of difficulty.
Fire is fun, but it’s a bit trickier to play at full efficiency.

All 3 specs have fun spells, though Destro only looks “correct” if you’re using Green Fire.

Looks/Feel/Mog are all fantastic.

mage is slightly more interesting mechanically - atleast they haven’t been changed into basic “build resource with weak ability - spend resource on strong ability” - like all three warlock specs

And portals if you like doing old content

mage
10char

Well to be fair Affliction is kinda wonky and the GCD is really insufferable in this spec, some people find Destro boring and theres the whole situation with Demo’s massive rework (i like current Demo though)

Why no like arcane? im liking it right now while leveling.

Is destroy easy?

I also like Arcane, once you know how to play its phases its actually quite strong
