Which is easier - Enh or Ele?

Currently which would you say is the easiest class to pick up and play?

Both look really cool to me but I’m (admittedly) not a very skilled player and want to know which class I’d have an easier time piloting

Ele’s easier mechanically

No way. I say ENH is easier all day. The question is: do you wanna melee or cast?

I’ve been getting more into melee classes recently, specifically ret and fury. I kinda like how fast-paced that gameplay can be.

Only issue is I’ve heard those specs are pretty brainless (comparatively) and both dps shaman specs are pretty complex lol

Both are fun. I play both on 2 seperate toons.

Personal choice is yours to make.

I find casters to be easier to play in group content and melee easier in world content. That said, I find elemental to be pretty simple (but fun) if playing the lava burst side of the spec.

I usually play elemental, but I just stared getting my shaman from lvl 60 to 70 as enhancement. I feel like enhancement is pretty easy so far. Personally though I don’t really like having to follow the mobs and bosses around. I may stick with enhancement because it’s currently my only melee alt.

tl;dr enhancement seems easier than I thought it would.

I’d say Ele is significantly easier to play and understand. Even if I dislike the current Ele plays style (mainly maintenance icefury) it is easy to understand pooling maelstrom for Storm Keeper or just sequencing abilities.

Enhance for me (especially depending on talents chosen) has a lot going on what with wolves getting reduced, which depends on procs of Stormstroke, which will dictate how much MSW stacks you get, which changes priorities, etc.

Ele is just a more stable spec imo, which is why I liked it. Enhance certainly is fun to try from time to time but relearning melee is annoying compared to ranged.

Depends. Both can be super basic or convoluted. Its all about how you want to talent. You’re already pretty proc dependant for both. Adding in more abilities or spells will bloat it. I like to talent for passives that enhance our regular abilities. Ice strike, sucks for both imo.

Enh with buffed up lava lash is awesome. Huge hits plus lava nova with lash spread is fun.

Ele with either meatball spam or massive LB procs is fun.

Difficulty can come down to your build. Some are more complex than others. I, personally enjoy playing both.

Both DPS specs are easy to play once one is familiar with one’s key binds and spell rotations/priorities. The current meta “max dps” builds are complicated and require weak auras to monitor procs to play most efficiently. There are builds that are more than effective that simplify the game and are fun.

One thing to consider is what content you want to play. Some are easier for melee and some are easier to ranged. Also, if you are required to move during play both can be challenging at first. I would say stand still fights favor enhancement and movement fights favor ele.

Enhancement doesn’t seem to die in the open world, and in PVP they pump damage. I don’t do any PVE stuff, but I’m sure someone else does.

Enhancement seems easier because Elemental (imo) is feast or famine.

I usually start out as an elementalist due to the damage output we have at early levels and being ranged with easy to spam abilities. I also occasionally switch back to elemental for older raids due to the spam factor resulting in a generally faster run in my experience.

Sometime between level 20 and 40 depending on gear and content I end up switching over to Enhancement. At this point being in melee is no longer just something that occasionally happens and the increased damage output and survival capabilities, not uncommon to get into fights with heavy rares and burn all of my instant casts on heals to keep my HP high enough to survive while my melee rotations grind through the targets HP, sometimes it’s a long fight.
