Legion with flying, or BFA without?
Also, I have tried leveling as shadow and holy, somehow holy has been better for me to level, it doesn’t feel as squishy. Is this normal? Shadow priest has not been fun to level for me.

For speed or a fun experience? Because flying through legion is fast as something red. But BFA zones are my favourite for leveling through. At least on alliance.
I enjoyed leveling as holy on my last 2 priests, shadow just felt off and like you said squishy.
So its not just you
I feel like if I am not dying every 3 minutes, leveling is quick enough. I’ve done a little bit of leveling in both, I think they are both fun enough. I am mostly looking for speed, I have been lolly gagging these first 30 levels, I just got flying, but I cannot fly in BFA. I am probably going to stick to Legion but wanted to see what other people though. I want to get to 50 this week!
Legion with flying, especially once you hit 40 and can get top speed flying, would be way faster. Faster movement, and you can take advantage of skipping over mobs you don’t need to get to the quest specific ones, as applicable.
Legion is faster with flying.
But BFA zones are pretty nice to quest throuh.
Spriest is quite squishy to level. A lot of it’s sustain is based on doing damage, so if you’re not doing a lot of damage (which you won’t be in leveling gear), you’re probably gunna be on the squishier side compared to classes who have much better baselines on their defensives/sustain.
Yeah I feel this. It was especially difficult in the way lower levels. My holy spec has a lot of burstier damage spells and I can heal myself up much easier.
Between those two? Legion easily. But WoD still reigns above on the leveling king of the hill. (Well Talador is kinda the suck.)
I’m leveling a LF Draenei priest - first 20 or so levels discipline was fine, then it felt like it hit like a wet noodle. Tried shadow, and it just felt so slooooow.
Holy feels like it hits way harder, which to me doesn’t make sense - the one “pure” healing spec hits harder than the damage spec, and the hybrid spec.
/shrug
Yes, that’s why I mentioned it, it seemed so odd to me. I haven’t tried Discipline at all, I watched some videos on how the Priest specs play at end game and it didn’t really appeal to me. I only considered Shadow because it made sense, to me, to level in a DPS spec.
I plan on playing Holy for end game so it’s probably better for me to stick with it through leveling.
Do drustvar and tiragarde until you can fly then off to Valsharah!
Ran a Rogue through Drustvar not long ago on my way to 48 to start Shadowlands. Only spent one evening getting through it all and moving on.
The amount of time not flying costs is deceptively high. Keep an eye out in both zones for the legion invasions and faction assaults. They are quick and easy experience.
I would play every zone 5 more times before having to do Drustvar again. The music, the story, it’s just all so bad.
It’s really depends on what you’re looking to get out of it.
Fun? Lore? Dungeons?
Or just plain efficiency?
For me Legion is by far the best solely for the class campaigns you get to do as part of the leveling experience. So much awesome class specific content there, more than the rest of the other expansions and base game combined.
If you’d like to level quickly as Alliance from 1-50-ish, do this. Usually around 7 hours.
Talk to Chromie to activate Legion timeline and grab the Hearthstone to Legion Dalaran.
Get out of Chromie timeline and immediately quest in Redridge Mountains until Keeshan takes you across the lake.
Go immediately to Duskwood and Loch Modan. They should take you to 30, easily. Grab flight.
Enable WoD timeline and do intro and surrounding garrison quests.
Do all of Gorgrond and bonus objectives you come across.
If you’re NOT 50–just zip back to Elwynn Forest and quest until 50.
Super simple and chill.
But I enjoyed Legion with flight.
BFA had so many stupid paths and some of the areas were so dark that it just made me angry because I kept getting stuck on everything possible.
