Which hunter to make for ally?

I’m gonna make a hunter with hard core. Not sure if I want to make a night elf or dwarf. A ne has more agility to start but if so far away from everything. A dwarf has a great area and easy access to things.

I guess it comes down to aesthetic and how you want to play.

Good to remember that the whole point is to not die and one of the NE racials is tied to death itself where as Stoneform and Find Treasure both have their advantages in Hardcore.

As Betty said, Dwarf is pretty nice. But NE shadowmeld is nice too in some situations, mostly PvP. Always fun to ambush with an aimed shot out of the blue.

Shadowmeld is just way better than anything you get as a dwarf.

NE Hunters have the unique advantage of being able FD->shadowmeld.

All the best hunter weapons are bows/xbow.

Dwarf with gun, stoneform and find treasure, skinner, leatherwork.

Dwarf has a better racial, but I would just go with whatever you like more because the racials won’t really be as important as you think for HC.

Wetlands run as a level 1 NE is the true hardcore experience.

I’ll be going Nelf for shadowmeld. It helps prevent afk deaths, and I afk frequently. It also has a decent bow early if you focus the crown of the earth line. I get this one at level 6, which is a very nice upgrade from the starter item.

Depends if you want to live past level 7 or not. If you do, go Dwarf.

Horde for life. That being said if I had to roll an ally hunter, hands down dwarf for hardcore mode. You get CDs that can mean the difference between life and death in a fight. Shadowmeld is nice but a bit of planning on where you sit for a bit is all that takes to nullify that.

yeah shadowmeld is very comfy; I loved it when I was leveling my HC druid.

I’m a NE and have been for a long time. But given an option I would say Dwarf hands down. Stoneform is just too good and while you already counter rogues as a Dwarf you should NEVER lose to them. =) That along would make me roll a Dwarf.

For PvE… who cares. lol

Lotta people here who have never used FD->shadowmeld to “vanish” and it shows lol

Oh, I use it alot… along with stealth on cat. But, if you could use Shadowmeld in combat… Oh, boy would that be great.

That’s the point FD removes you from combat allowing shadowmeld “in combat”. It’s how NE can drop patrol aggro, FD->shadowmeld and wait for FD to come back up to escape sticky situations, do skips on hunters that other races can’t do, etc.

I obviously know the about how FD works. =)

But, when shadowmeld was switched to be usable in combat. It added a different layer of OPness to NE hunter. Being able to SM a shatter is HUGE, or a fear, or a charge. Having to use FD now is ok. But I would prefer to use FD for something else. =)

Normies don’t understand shadowmeld. You have to remember most hardcore players don’t seem to use keybinds or macros. They can only process racials that have an obvious in-your-face benefit.

Even without feign death shadowmeld is still BIS for not dieing. Macro eat + drink + meld and you can heal and mana up to full inside a cave without aggroing respawns or patrols.
