Although I am looking at getting into healing in this next xPac, I have always loved the lore and playstyle of hunter. Something about a ‘bow’ class just gets me all giddy and reminds me of my childhood and being a fanboy of legalos in LOTR movies. Ever since I first saw this guy and his amazing bow skills, it instantly transcended into MMOs and games alike with any character/class with a bow an instalock.
With the new xPac, I have only heard upset feedback about hunters. As I get more into creating a new class for the xPac and getting it to 120, I am stuck on which hunter spec feels “safest” in getting comfortable with. I know the xPac is still in beta and a lot will change, but with the current changes that you know of, which hunter spec do you feel feels most safe to roll and learn to get ready for Shadowlands?
Side note: I’m not picky about my hunter spec, any spec works for me - I just love hunter!
Msv and mm are going through some changes and growing pains right now while they work some stuff out like spec identity and core rotations that feel fluid. Imo bm is changing little, easy to learn, consistently produces results.
Do you feel like this is the safest bet right now? I’m a big PvP guy too, so do you see the BM hunter being as dominate in leaderboards in SL as it is in BFA?
Bm is not dominate on the leader board lol. Pretty sure its survival.
Top 500 2v2s and 3v3s in about 55% surv, 40% BM and 5% MM - Maybe not “dominate” but definitely a force to be reckoned with!
Where did you find those stats?
By looking at the leaderboards…
My best guess would be 85% survival and 15% the other two. If they are bm currently its probably in their raid/m+ gear. I didnt know i could sort the wow leaderboard by spec. I’ll double check.
Gotta agree, if we’re talking pvp that’ll shift focus away from bm. However bm is perfectly capable in all content if you enjoy it, there’s really no reason not to
I wanted to play MM, but, honestly, the spec hasn’t improved enough yet to seem like a fun option (at least from what I’ve experienced on PTR). I don’t want to play a spec where I don’t even want to use my major cool down. That’s just goofy.
BM seems more versatile in more game areas. With all the restrictions on conduits, covenants, etc, I think that versatility will be important to have.
I’m going to play MM and mostly spam BGs. Doing damage on the move will be a bit better in SL. Still will rarely cast aimed shot.
Bm. I’m going main this spec.
Msv. I just love this spec but I like use the bow more…currently
It’s a bit early to determine which spec will be dominant. Numbers will be tuned, yada yada.
BM could prove to be quite good as non-stop mobility is one if its strongest qualities. But again, it’s better we wait and see.
BM is always the safe spec, but its a tad boring. I expext MM will be the group spec fo SL.
if i decide to go hunter ill always have a spec that performs well (BM)
MM looks fun so ill def check it out if survival sucks and BM gets boring
that being said i love survival and would love to main it.
I’m going survival
I’m one of the few that like it
I feel like a warrior with the tool kite of a hunter at times
Leveling is fun
Theres only like 2 players over 2k that main Bm. Hogx is one. I think you’re seeing people sitting on their pve spec when not pvping since no one would want an msv hunter in raids imho.
I doubt BM will be competitive in SL with the 6 second pet rez.
Im thinking MM and mSV (vomit) will be the specs to choose.
MM all the way.
Give Marksman another chance
Play out and feel disappointed (focus starved and weak defensively)
look at Survival talents and gameplay
hell no!
respecing to BM…
Was planning to stay MSV but since they cut focus regen in half thats not going to happen until they fix it. I think im going for the straight MM route now.
