Which hunter pet is good for tanking like the void guy of the lock?

I always run a turtle for my tank pet. They’ve given me the best performance of all the Tenacity pets I’ve tried using over the years. Plus, turtles / tortoises are one of my favorite animals.

im disappointed in all of you…

get a sporebat

Clefthoofs are best, IMHO. Blood of the Rhino is awesome. You also get Bloodlust!

mend pet and misdirection = tank anything besides bosses. (pet type almost irrelevant due to mend pets high heals/sec)
To be honest, though, demonology warlock with the right talents and a felguard will out-tank a hunter pet easily (especially on large packs of mobs or tough bosses/elites). BM hunter is more suited for single target or cleave dps.

the void lord is not good at tanking, hasnt been for a few expansions now. :dracthyr_cry_animated:

Tame a bear and relive the magic of the original WOW video. If you are a hunter your pets group is just not complete if you dont have a fearless bear.

Though if I really think about it I am a Panda, so I am also a bear. So maybe I am really sending my dumb friend to get beat up in every battle while I drink beer and lob in an arrow every once in a while. Oh yah, I also click misdirect whenever I pop a new beer. Hard to drink beer if you are in melee range. So glad my pet bear never figured this all out.

Throwing my vote in for Clefthooves.

They’re able to bring lust, are Ferocity pets so they bring leech for themselves and you. Clefthooves also have an unique ability that reduces damage taken.

Nice little tanky utility package in a big clefthoof shaped friend.

The voidwalker’s taunt ability (Suffering) lasts for 5 seconds where a hunter pet taunt lasts just 3 seconds (I believe). Voidwalker has an added feature when you put the taunt on auto-cast as well -

Auto-Cast:
Taunts the current target if it is not attacking the Voidwalker and taunts any target who attacks its master.

That automatic taunt of anything that attacks its master is nice. If I need more than one mob to be tanked by my hunter pet, I go Beast Mastery, start with a Barbed Shot so the pet uses stomp (AOE), then do a multi-shot to activate beast cleave, then kill command so the pet(s) damage, and get aggro on everything.
